Hello! My name is Richard. I am a California-licensed marriage and family therapist. I use straightforward evidence-based practices to reduce areas of emotional and psychological distress. I ensure all my clients feel heard, understood, and respected. My goal is to collaborate together and help you heal and thrive for years to come. My approach to therapy utilizes Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Trauma Focused, Solution Focused, Contextual Family Therapy, Bowenian Family Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Gottman Therapy.
I believe in honesty, transparency, respectfulness, and assertive communication. I have a "no-secrets" policy for couples. I do not allow yelling and/or arguing in session. Note, that there are limits to communication. For example, any communication that involves knowledge of child and elder abuse will have to be reported to local authorities.
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are motivated to create positive change, seeking insight and solutions to resolve dysfunction in many domains of their lives. I have always had an intrinsic passion for helping people live a peaceful and meaningful life.
