The approach I take is a psychodynamic conversation with the individual(s) about what struggles and conflicts are present in their life. The goal of therapy is to identify the patterns of thinking and feeling, (positive and negative) that a person is using to manage the relationships in their life and to discover ways of adjusting those patterns to create a more positive experience of oneself and others. Therapist and client work together to understand and modify habits of thinking, feeling and behaving that create a stronger sense of self and happiness.
Observing our unique ways of relating to ourselves and others is the beginning of self-awareness. The learned patterns and memories that echo from our past are both helpful and harmful in our present life. Therapy helps us modify and improve relationships with the people in our life.
I offer long term open ended therapy to those who are motivated to learn more about themselves. I am in a psychoanalytic training program and will be offering control case psychoanalysis to those interested.
