My clients and students value health, self-renewal and self-discovery, and believe that each of us plays an essential role in our healing. I use a meditative, gentle and brief method that: 1) Helps you discover patterns of thinking, feeling and action, 2) Makes emotions feel safe, and uncovers core beliefs and images; 3) Utilizes the innate wisdom of the body; and 4) Opens new life choices. Most of my work is with individuals or couples suffering from stress, grief, depression , anxiety, panic, trauma, relationship difficulties, pain conditions, and sleeping and eating difficulties. I accept most health insurance.

My job is not to tell you what to do. Or even give you advice. Or presume that I know what's better for you than you do. My job is to support you emotionally and listen non-judgementally as you find your way through life's bumps and bruises. No doubt that dealing with people and situations is often stressful. But it's our own conflicting values and desires about how to handle these things that tend to make us anxious, depressed ...stuck. What I do is compassionately listen and then gently point out where you sound conflcted.

I often work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression , trauma, adjustment disorders, and relationship difficulties.
Like many journeys, therapy begins with where you are now. During my seventeen years practicing therapy I have learned that therapy needs to be a collaborative process. You are the expert on your life and its future direction. As your therapist, I will provide a safe, confidential space to explore relevant events in your life that may be influencing your ability to reach your objectives. I will assist by providing insight, life skills, and support so that you can take the steps necessary to lessen your symptoms, enhance your self-knowledge, and effectively meet life's challenges.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
