When we change the way we think, we change the way we live. Perspective is key. I believe counseling is a space to explore the thoughts that hinder success and then transform them! Reshape the way we’ve learned to communicate with ourselves and with others. I am passionate about helping people develop new beliefs about themselves that support their values. What do you value? What are you currently doing that aligns with your values? What’s getting in the way? How do you overcome all of that? We live in a fast-paced society but counseling allows us to slow down, reflect, and figure out how to achieve our goals.

Psychotherapy can be a powerful tool of transformation, and an opportunity to gain a better handle on the sources of suffering in one's life. This process can take many forms, whether it's finding new ways of thinking and responding in the moment, gaining freedom from past influences, deepening self-understanding and self-acceptance, or finding creative and concrete solutions. I honor the depth and complexity of every client's unique personality, and put great care into listening deeply, asking the right questions, and creating a relaxed therapeutic atmosphere characterized by honesty, open-mindedness, and non-judgmental curiosity.

Please note: I am currently not taking new therapy clients. In my 20+ years of experience I have found that therapy works because it offers the time and a safe space to explore our internal world and our relationship with others. Research shows that we can transform negative self beliefs and feelings by processing childhood trauma. I specialize in body-centered psychotherapies, EMDR and IFS, to achieve this goal. Many diagnoses are missed, such as PTSD and ADHD in adults until they listen to their bodies. Clients will learn that our bodies possess the capacity to be rewired when we heal trauma, and will regain their full lives.

Success, change, happiness, hope, kindness, balance - these, among other traits, are things that we strive for & work towards in life but at times feel like they are completely & totally out of reach. Sometimes there are roadblocks & barriers that make the future seem unobtainable and that there is nothing but darkness ahead. It's moments like these that define us. When we are at a crossroads and important choices need to be made - this is where I come in. I wish to offer support, guidance, and help with the hope and intention that together, change can happen, skills can be built and goals can be attained.

Current practice is provided 100% through telehealth. I work with preteens, teens, and adults, holding a certification for the treatment of Child and Adolescent Anxiety as well as a certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies. I place high value on providing compassionate, holistic care for each person and family I work with. I will work collaboratively with you and/or your child to uncover strengths and problem solving abilities, broaden self-awareness, increase distress tolerance, and when appropriate to decrease the body's overactive response to anxiety and stress. Together we will identify pathways to reach your therapeutic goals.

I believe that life is a journey, and with every journey there are bumps in the road. Issues may come up in life that lead to feelings of confusion, anxiety, anger, or depression. It may help to find a person that will listen and can offer a helping hand on that road. I feel that with my years of experience and objective approach, I can be that person. There is a beacon of hope there, for minor bumps as well as life altering losses. I wish you well on your road and hope to hear from you.

How can I find a therapist in Bristol?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
