About
My name is Rex L. Bunnell, a master's level licensed alcohol and drug counselor at Wallastook Counseling. I have over 25 years of experience working in the addictions field. I not only understand the entire process of how recovery unfolds, but I also have a personal connection with recovery. Our first meeting gives the client and clinician an opportunity to develop a therapeutic alliance and presents the client with an opportunity to explore what his needs and goals are in counseling. Issues such as isolation, relationship conflicts, emotional dysregulation, and cognitive distortions all lead to alcohol and drug abuse.
One of the most important things that I have learned over time is that the opposite of addiction is human connection. Addicts are isolated from self and others and need to reconnect. I offer the client the ability to reconnect through the therapeutic relationship that is developed through empathy and understanding.
My humanistic counseling approach is rooted in evidence-based therapy that has been proven to be effective in breaking the cycle of addiction. Attending sessions can help you process feelings and heal from past situations that have forced you to self-medicate in the past. As well as individual sessions I specialize in LADC evaluations.
