Eating disorders are insidious and impact the entire family system. It can feel overwhelming, frustrating and confusing to know how to support a loved one with an eating disorder. Maybe you find the current treatment isn't working. My sessions help give caregivers (parents, partners or other supports) stability again. A person with an ED has a much better prognosis of sustained recovery when their family is educated, supported and involved. Family members learn they are part of the solution, not the problem. Treatment is not permanent, but family is. I can help you, help your loved one.
I empower families through an FBT lens, teaching caregivers how to respond to the "ED voice", including tolerating their loved one's distress. I offer resources and practical strategies to manage ED behaviors. Caregivers learn how to establish boundaries and communicate effectively. I believe collaboration is key and include you as part of the care team.

Groups
Women's DBT Skills Group
Virtual DBT Skills Group is appropriate for women (18+). The skills of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness are introduced/reviewed in weekly 60 minute sessions. Groups consist of mindfulness practice, teaching, experiential learning and discussion, with the goal of learning and reinforcing skills to ensure proper and continued use. Members must have have a primary therapist to expand on learned skills. Cost is $60 per group; superbill receipts provided by request to submit to insurance for potential reimbursement. Group is held virtually Mondays 12-1 pm EST.

The National Alliance for Eating Disorders offers a free, weekly, virtual, and therapist-led support group for friends and family of loved ones struggling with eating disorders. Pre-registration is required through the National Alliance's website.
