Teen DBT Skills Group
This group is appropriate for all teens ages 14-18 (in high school) with acute or long standing difficulties with regulating emotions, impulse control, disordered eating, substance abuse, self-harm and other self-destructive behaviors. Groups emphasize skill-building and focus on replacing destructive behaviors with healthier coping skills. The 4 DBT modules will be covered: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness. For those with DBT experience, it is an opportunity to review and reinforce skills to ensure proper and continued use. Since groups are educational in nature and skills based, participants are also required to be in individual therapy concurrently.
