My name is Renee Deschaine, LCSW. My approach to therapy is client-centered with the belief that people have the innate ability to understand themselves and make the changes needed for growth. I place an emphasis on providing a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathetic space where clients feel heard and understood. The most common theoretical approaches I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution focused therapy, and Humanistic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I really enjoy working with individuals of all ages. When I began my career, I focused mostly on the pediatric population. I moved into a different role and gained experience with adolescents and adults. Each population is very different in approaches but I truly enjoy them all in their own way.
I wanted to be who I needed when I was younger. I wanted to be a safe place where anyone can come to share about themselves and truly feel they can be who they are. This world is full of judgment and societal pressures everywhere you look. With me, in the space we create, you can be yourself and know you are accepted, heard, and safe.
