Are you feeling anxious or depressed because of compulsive or addictive behaviors? Have you tried changing your behavior yourself but can't? I am a licensed clinical social worker who is certified in treating individuals, couples and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, pornography and sex addiction and trauma using research-based proven methods. I can help you change unwanted thoughts and behaviors that are taking over your life. I was the Director of Counseling Services at a Family Service Agency, where I developed a Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention program. In addition I developed an Opiate Addiction Prevention Education program.
People can change their behavior when they are educated about how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected. I am also trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction Protocol (TIR), a method of effectively reducing traumatic stress from emotionally and/or physically painful events or lingering feelings of guilt, shame, loneliness in a small number of sessions.
In addition I provide general couples therapy. Couples argue about money, sex, parenting and issues of power and control; but the real issue is feeling disconnected and not seen by your partner. I will work with you to reconnect with your partner emotionally. Relationship satisfaction depends on feeling seen, heard, and understood.
