They feel stressed, ashamed, shut-down, or depressed and don't feel nearly enough love, joy, optimism, or creativity.
Most therapies rely on talk and theories, but words alone won't change old trauma-based patterns. When a person has been emotionally traumatized repeatedly, the problem is not a psychological one or a bad attitude. Their symptoms are a physiological reaction in the nervous system in response to the shock of the trauma.
Somatic Experiencing is based on understanding how our nervous system stores trauma, and how it can release it. I offer what I've learned not only from professional studies and 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist, but also from my own healing journey and recovery from a challenging and lonely childhood.
