We are born, develop, and come to understand ourselves in relationship to others.
Your decision to enter the process of therapy is an act of trust that I take seriously and respectfully. I've had the privilege of assisting women, men, couples and youth as they work through the variety of experiences and challenges that make us human. Although I was initially trained in psychodynamic and attachment theory, we may incorporate any of several clinical approaches. What suits the client's needs and preferences is key. Together, we create a supportive atmosphere where what matters to the client can be expressed and explored. More satisfying and effective ways of moving forward can be nurtured.

Or other challenges in your relationship can leave you with difficulty trusting and feeling alone or like roommates. Even if you are in a place that feels hopeless and you don't know where to take the next step, let me assure you that there is hope. I know the roadmap to help you get back on track.

In the center of my therapeutic approach is a strong therapeutic relationship with clients based on compassion and empathetic understanding/listening/seeking to know.
I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space, empathetic/active listening as a compassionate presence and witness to see you, hear you, and meet you where you are in your human condition. My hope is to inspire your inner compassionate healer to go through your current circumstance and increase sense of peace, meaning and purpose. As an Asian American woman, I have a personal understanding of how to successfully navigate multicultural systems, especially those of Eastern/Western combined backgrounds. A rich full life experience as a classical musician/artist before mid-life, helps inform my service with added empathetic capacity

It is important to me that my clients begin to feel a change in their relationship dynamics as we work together.
I specialize in supporting families and couples who are struggling to communicate effectively. This may look like every conversation turning into a fight, no longer being able to understand or relate to the other person's point of view, behavior challenges with children, or feeling completely exhausted by being stuck in a pattern together. I help guide families and couples back to mutual understanding, in working through and resolving conflicts, and in addressing how behaviors affect one another.

I enjoy working with Asian-American adults and teens suffering from depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.
If you’re experiencing shame, guilt, or crippling perfectionism, I would like to help. You may feel stuck, wrestling with constant self-criticism or struggling with the same damaging ideas for years making self-acceptance impossible. Whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to endure it alone. I hope to create a space where you feel safe to share your story, support you in navigating the most painful parts, and ultimately help you find healing and wholeness. While we can’t change the past, we can shape its impact on our present and future.

I use a strong therapeutic relationship to support building specific skill sets so that people are better able to live skillfully in all areas of their lives, and to also reap the benefits of living a more aware and empowered life.
As a therapist that works with couples and individuals, with a focus on intimacy and sexuality, I often work with people seeking deeper and more nourishing connections in their relationships and lives. Connection requires the courage to move into vulnerability and honesty to live one's truth about what they really need from their relationships. This is where I can help! I serve as a guide for individuals and couples in stepping into their own lives, to ask for what they need and to be present in and for their relationships.

Therapy is an opportunity to engage in a healing relationship unlike most others. The focus is on you: your feelings, your thoughts, your strengths, and insecurities. My job is to support you as you work your way toward understanding, accepting, and growing into yourself. Psychotherapy involves exploring feelings, perceptions, and beliefs about oneself and others, understanding how and why self-defeating or painful patterns of living have developed, and discovering how to modify them. I am committed to helping you discover and speak the truth of your experience, including parts of you that may have been left unspoken and unlived.

I work to build a relationship of safety with my clients, tending holistically to the body, mind, and emotions.
Deep healing occurs in safe, attuned, compassionate relationships with ourselves and others. It is often our trouble with relationships, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts and feelings, addictions, performance issues, etc. that clue us into our need to slow down and tend to the stories and meaning (often implicitly) encoded in our mind, hearts, and bodies. Good therapy is a process of not only alleviating distressing symptoms, but learning to know ourselves and the ways our past shows up in our present, so that we can more deeply flourish in our relationships.

I commonly assist with perfectionism, people pleasing, imposter feelings, personal growth, and relationship satisfaction.
My approach to therapy is dually focused: I offer evidenced based interventions that teach skills and concepts to help you better manage emotional and mental discomfort. I also focus on insight, so I like to explore the deeper self, your existential curiosity, core beliefs, and values. I have found this approach can increase resilience, foster healing, and allow growth. I am collaborative, encouraging, and enjoy incorporating laughter and humor into sessions when appropriate.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
