My work is holistic and I incorporate a mind-body-relationship-systems framework when working with my people.
I'm a Queer Therapist serving clients in person in Central Austin and virtually to all Texas residents. I work with relationships (couples, polycules, and adult family members) and individuals. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA2S+ people. Many of my clients are sensitive people with extrasensory awarenesses and spiritual and/or religious practices. I am passionate about working with folks whose life experiences challenge mainstream norms and may be deemed unconventional. I love collaborating with people as they create authentic relationships with themselves, their people, and the collective.

I focus on treating trauma, relationship issues, and addiction through the lens of Attachment.
My focus as a therapist is on healing trauma through the attachment lens. When defining trauma, I like to quote Gabor Mate who states that Trauma is not what happens to you, it is what happens inside you. The traumatic event may have been the abandonment that happened years ago, but the trauma itself is the crippling fear inside when someone we love doesn't respond quickly enough. Unfortunately, we can't change the past, but we Can change the ways it affects our present and our future. I hope to offer you closure by helping you understand the How and Why of your trauma.

Clients with additions/substance abuse and relationship issues generally experience anxiety and/or depression. As an individual and relationship specialist, I am skilled at working with couples experiencing problems in their relationship or individuals who want a more personal experience by working on their own emotional well-being.
You look around and everything seems broken or merely hanging on by a thread. No matter what you've tried, the promise of a better life seems further and further away. Constantly fighting against the things weighing you down only leads to more devastation and hopelessness. You feel lost in this nightmare of day-to-day living and struggle with feeling everything and nothing all at the same time. You’ve began to wonder how much longer you can go on like this, but the idea of true happiness seems so far from reach. Despite it all, you know that you deserve to experience real, sustainable change.

I've learned that life is a journey that is not always kind to us, although life is chaotic you're not crazy you're just managing. The difficulties of life catch up with us and sometimes are the simplest things that are emotionally draining, knocking you off balance, and opening up wounds that may have never healed. Sometimes managing means using unhealthy and unhelpful coping methods. It may feel like you are under attack both inside and out, affecting relationships with others (family, friends, professional, or romantic) and your relationship with yourself! You are not alone.

I take pride in the fact that former clients value that relationship and often return to see me if they encounter additional difficulties in their lives.
I work with clients to establish what their goals are for therapy. For some it may be to bring clarity to a specific situation that is causing disruption to their lives. For others, we may seek to uncover patterns of behavior that have been preventing them from living the lives they desire or having the sort of relationships they find most fulfilling. I seek to understand, increase awareness, relieve pain and fear, improve interpersonal skills and encourage growth. I have over 20 years of experience providing therapy to individuals and couples with a wide range of psychological difficulties.

Imagine that you are holding a bottle of soda. Now imagine yourself shaking that bottle. What happens if you open the top? It explodes everywhere! Now, if you take that same shaken up bottle and carefully turn the lid to let a little amount of air out at a time, it will settle. This is how I view therapy, with each shake representing a negative experience, relationship, and/or trauma. Good therapy demands being careful with and sensitive to those shakes, and eventually walking out of the door with a mind, a relationship, and a life...settled.

Life is a journey comprised of various relationships which are often challenged by change. Changes in relationships are often overwhelming and cause stress, anxiety, quilt, grief, or trauma. The diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, a death, being the caregiver for someone with a chronic illness, dealing with end-of-life issues, or divorce at times is overwhelming and frustrating. During these experiences, it is important to have someone who will listen to understand your experience. I have training and experience in companioning those who are navigating a stressful time in a relationship changed by loss or illness.

On our journey through life we all face challenges. We may be dealing with grief issues, relationship issues, or need help with communicating more effectively. We may feel overwhelmed, anxious, trapped, confused, alone, fearful, depressed, frustrated, stuck, burdened, and unhappy. I have always been fascinated by how people change, learn, and grow. I believe that given the right context, such as a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment, people can make the changes they need to make to live a happier, more productive and positive life. Given the right tools, everyone has the capacity to engineer their life in a healthier way.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
