I have worked with men and women of all ages that range from a variety of issues that include grief, depression, relationship issues, pre-natal and post-natal transitions, family conflict, separation/divorce, and the "stuck" feeling.
How brave you are to begin the search for a therapist! Now that the journey has begun allow me to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, foster relationships that are fulfilling, create an intimate and safe space for you and/or your spouse or partner, or navigate the tough path that life has you on right now. We all struggle and sometimes the struggle is worse depending on what day it is. I want to be able to help you reach your full potential in every area of life and help you maximize life's experiences. I encourage transparency and vulnerability through collaboration.

This means that I believe that the relationship between the client and the therapist is a very significant component of successful therapy.
Many of us feel very alone when we are managing difficult times in our lives. However, you do not have to manage these challenges by yourself! I am here to join you and provide support, compassion, and guidance as you navigate relational issues, life transitions and mental health challenges. I assist my clients by helping them gain insight into their situation as well as by helping them develop skills to better manage their specific challenges.

I work with clients who experience difficulties with depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment issues, substance use/abuse, relationship issues, family stress, trauma, and oppression.
Do you often find that you compare yourself to others? Do you want to stop unhealthy behaviors but have a hard time making change? Do you find yourself stuck in a cycle of unhealthy relationships, but you're not sure what to do about it? Maybe you struggle with setting and keeping boundaries with yourself and others. We all have limits in relationships that help us feel safe and connected, although sometimes it's hard to assert them. Many of us have been "trained" to ignore our own needs. What would it be like to work on making decisions in your life that truly benefit you and allow you to have healthier connections?

Are you overwhelmed, anxious, and weary? I am honored to walk alongside people as they seek health and balance through counseling. I work with clients to begin to understand their intrinsic value, while working to develop healthier relationships, coping skills, healing from the past, and to dream about the future. Most often I work with young adults dealing with anxiety, relationship issues, post break- up recovery, family of origin issues, identity struggles, and indecision. I also work with couples to seek a healthier and more fulfilling relationship, through pre-engagement, premarital, and marriage counseling.

I specialize in depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders such as bipolar disorder Spiritual issues, Relationship struggles and boundary issues.
If we are being honest, change can be a scary thing to approach. Yet I would argue that we all have areas of our lives that we would like to change or improve. Sometimes we simply want to understand ourselves better, sometimes we want to improve our relationships, and still other times we have serious concerns with our mood, anxiety, or current behavioral patterns. I use a personable, relatable approach to therapy to assist in navigating some of the discomfort inherent in the therapeutic process. This is a place of non-judgement, and I am open and accepting of all persons and identities.

You want to feel connected, heard, and cared for in your relationship. Conflict, emotional wounds, and miscommunication have left you feeling not only disconnected from your partner but from parts of yourself too. You want to get back to the place where your relationship felt supportive, warm, and fun. You're in the right place- you are not alone. Going to therapy is a sign of dedication, not failure. There is hope.

In our therapeutic relationship, I will invite you to consider how past relationships and experiences in your life may be impacting your current relationships and life satisfaction.
Sometimes our lives get the better of us and before we know it, we find ourselves longing to be heard, understood, and valued. The things you are going through matter. You matter. One of my favorite parts about being a counselor is that through providing a safe place for you to process your life, you can foster honesty and openness with yourself in new ways. I hope to be a relationship for you that allows you to feel accepted and cared for as you are, while encouraging you to gain the confidence to be the person you want to become.

"Be caring, curious, and then compassionate." I practice these three steps just as I teach them. I studied psychology, counseling, and family therapy for 12 years to become the best therapist I could be and to know how best to help someone work through depression or anxiety. I especially enjoy working with couples to help create their healthiest relationship. My speciality is working with parents and their children even if they are grown.

By building a safe and trusting relationship with my clients and allowing them to take the lead in therapy, we build self-confidence, increase self-compassion, and strengthen shame resiliency to challenge areas of concern and work towards being the version of themselves they want to be.
I approach therapy with the mindset that every client has internal skills that give them the ability to reach personal goals. With an integrative client-centered approach, the client takes the lead as the expert to their life and patterns of behaviors, and I help guide the client to uncover causes of core beliefs systems that fuel areas of concern. My role in this process is to support clients with encouragement while also maintaining accountability for positive change.

I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families who want to add tools to their relationship toolbox.
Strong, healthy relationships take work; however, like steering a ship, small changes in direction can often yield big results. For example, all couples and families have disagreements and challenges. The issue is not whether there is conflict, but how you deal with conflict when it arises. Figuring out who you are together, what you value, and what and how you want to be can be a challenge, but there is immense reward in facing these questions bravely. I can help. I'm good at helping couples remember why they liked each other in the first place.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
