A wise person once said, "You can't laugh all your laughter till you cry all your tears." Sometimes life presents us with difficult challenges or situations that can be overwhelming or unfair. The death of a loved one, the breakup of a relationship. health issues, family conflicts, depression and anxiety just to name a few. The decision to enter therapy is seldom made lightly. I believe it is important to provide a safe and confidential space for my clients to share their feelings and speak their truth. It is only by sharing the pain and sadness that humans can cry their tears and move on to the laughter again.

The number one most reliable predictor of a positive outcome to therapy is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client.
***NOW PROVIDING TELE-THERAPY***, as we navigate our mental health and keep ourselves, our families, and our communities healthy. Tele-therapy is simple and easy to use, and I will guide you through it. As a parent and therapist, I understand the challenges facing women today as they navigate the many obligations and demands in their lives. My practice focuses on women's issues including depression, anxiety, pregnancy/postpartum issues, poor prenatal diagnosis, balancing work and family life, role identity, trauma, and family and partner conflict.

Starting therapy always feels risky and I hold the therapeutic relationship to be the most important aspect of our work.
As a Psychotherapist and Physician Assistant with nearly a decade of mental health experience in inpatient, outpatient, and addiction treatment settings, I’m particularly grounded in the diversity of people’s suffering and what helps provide relief. Whether you struggle with the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, intense inner criticism, or ongoing shame, my first priority is always to create a space where meaningful therapeutic work can take hold. Holding space for caring, honest self-examination while I remain actively and supportively involved are essential ingredients for personal growth and progress.

In our sessions I hope to build a trusting relationship that allows for emergence, challenge, and deep understanding.
Are you struggling to find hope and meaning in a stressful world? Is it difficult to focus and make space for reflection? My approach to psychotherapy is primarily informed by relational-interpersonal theory, drawing from elements of existential and somatic practices. These approaches to therapy inform my belief that we can heal and grow when we are able to increase awareness of our experience, make meaning, and strengthen our relationships with ourselves and others. I emphasize community as crucial to a fulfilling life, and am passionate about helping people work through conflict with others with compassion and honesty.

I address a wide range of issues including interpersonal violence, depression, anxiety, family/relationship dynamics, gender, sexuality, identity, grief/loss, and challenging life transitions.
In my individual, couples, and family work, values of collaboration, mutuality, and connection guide my practice. I partner with clients to identify their own unique strengths that can be used as resources to foster growth and change. I am attentive to the role of early family experiences, cultural values, oppression, and stigma in shaping client's experiences. Particularly when addressing painful or traumatic areas, I attend to clients' emotional safety using mindfulness and body awareness. I believe that healing happens in the context of honest relationships and invite my clients to engage in open dialog about our work together.

I have particular expertise working with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, relationship issues, difficult life adjustments, and grief.
Clients often describe me as authentic, determined, and insightful. My therapeutic approach is conversational and casual with a clear direction and purpose. I offer direct solutions and evidence-based techniques to help you solve your problems, or we can dive deeper and explore the roots behind your troubles and true self. We will likely do both!

I feel the most important aspect of counseling is the relationship between the counselor and client. If we are able to create a genuine relationship that is grounded in authenticity and trust, we can further your understanding of yourself, your experiences, and how you engage with the world. I aim to help people by cultivating a safe environment where thoughts and emotions can be deeply felt, and where we can discover what steps you can take in your life that better align with your values. Through counseling, we can learn how to acknowledge thoughts, feelings, and past experiences without having them overwhelm or define us.

My professional experience includes work with addiction, anxiety, depression, difficult life/work transitions, grief/loss, personality disorders, relationship issues, and trauma.
Life can present us with challenging and stressful situations. And yet, "We are made to persist. That is how we find out who we are"-Tobias Wolff. This philosophy provides the reassurance that each person has the power and potential to surpass many difficult situations. In therapeutic practice, I work with clients to identify and cultivate their innate strengths and resources, inspiring positive change and a more meaningful, rewarding life.

I have been in private practice for the past approximately 25 years working primarily with adults, both individually and in couples. Although I have considerable experience with what may be described as more serious anxiety and depressive disorders, my practice more typically has consisted of individuals/couples interested in working on quality of life, relationship and general adjustment issues.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
