I believe one of the most important parts of the counseling process is to develop a trusting caring relationship. With this relationship, much can be gained from the counseling sessions. I have worked well with individuals and families who have emotional pain. For many clients, helping them understand what creates such emotional pain, gaining insights puts them on a path for a more fulfilling life. In my practice I work with individuals who have sadness, depression, loss, relationship difficulties, family difficulties, sexual challenges and sexual abuse. My mission in therapy is to respect each client, and walk with them at their healing pace, I believe if we walk together on this healing journey life will be better.

My passion is lifespan services; helping people adjust to transitional stages throughout their lives; school-transitions, marriage, divorce, developmental disabilities, academic difficulties, motivational issues, relationship roadblocks, grief and loss, geographic relocations, etc.
I am a Licensed Psychologist in Pennsylvania and New York with a specialty in clinical psychology. I specialize in psychological assessments and evaluations and utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy in my practice. I have years of experience with adjustment disorders, life transitions, and overall family development. Prior to working in private practice, I was sought after for my extensive psychological evaluations, including cognitive, academic/achievement, personality, and neuropsychological inventories. I believe that assessment tools, particularly self-report inventories, are useful in guiding therapeutic progress in therapy.

The therapeutic relationship is such an important aspect of the therapeutic process.
The stories that we tell about ourselves and our experiences are our realities, and these realities shape how we perceive our past, current, and future experiences in our lives. Sometimes, these stories do not allow us to feel the level of happiness and fulfillment in which we desire due to problems dominating our stories. It is my goal to support individuals, families, couples, and groups in developing a sense of hope and possibility that were not previously there. This hope provides space for unique possible outcomes where these individuals can develop a story that includes happiness and life fulfillment.

I consider it an honor to be invited into your journey of personal reflection and growth. I believe that the journey starts with a safe, supportive, environment that allows the individual/unit to freely express themselves. Once a therapeutic relationship has been created, I will provide guidance and suggestions that are based on research-based theories. Some integrated theories include: Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Positive Psychology, and Systems Theory. Guidance is based on a Humanistic Approach that individuals/units can find meaning by focusing on free-will, self-determination, and responsibility.

I have become well versed in a plethora of issues but have found a great deal of success treating those with addiction issues, PTSD, relationship struggles and phase of life issues.
I feel that the bravest thing anyone can do is begin to understand their own story and as your therapist, I’m here to help. Let’s celebrate taking that first step in sorting out and making sense of your thoughts and feelings together. Sometimes our perception of therapy is stuffy, one-sided or that we cannot be our true selves during a session. I can assure you that’s not how our time together will be spent. You have my promise to feel heard, able to engage freely, be genuine, and feel relaxed in a nonjudgmental safe space to help you feel empowered enough to cope with whatever life throws you.

Hi, I'm Matt. As a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), my expertise is in reconnecting spouses and family members who genuinely seek to change their relationship. However, I also excel at applying systemic insights to many individual problems, such as anxiety, depression, anger, or low self-esteem. I find the most success with people who've tried everything else, but haven't yet been able to escape the problem they feel stuck with. Systemic insights are evidence based and backed by current research. You don't know it yet, but there's a way in which you and your experiences make sense, and I like it when things make sense.

I have experience working with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma.
Whether you're experiencing a recent difficulty or a long-standing challenge, most of my clients trace depression and anxiety issues back to trauma. When people are traumatized, it often shapes their beliefs about themselves or their lives. Utilizing a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment, I strive to help my clients identify underlying beliefs, address certain behaviors, attitudes and emotions. We collaborate to establish healthier and more effective patterns of behaviors. I believe when we attain insight we can feel increased freedom and optimism; we no longer feel "stuck" and hopeless in our pain.

My areas of speciality are treating anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, trauma, relationship difficulties, and stress from major life transitions.
Counseling is a space where you can explore, process, heal and grow. By being vulnerable we can allow ourselves the space to reflect on who we are now and where we have come from. I believe that we deserve a space where we can feel safe, comfortable and free from judgement. In this space, we can take out some of the boxes that are stored away and discover how we can let go of what no longer serves us while creating new ways of being and relating to ourselves, others, and the world around us .

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
