I have been successful in helping people develop healthy coping strategies, and I coach people to try out new behaviors in their daily lives. I have a calm, yet attentive therapeutic style and I strive to empower my clients to experience greater confidence and agency.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certfied Rational Hypnotherapist that focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship in order to help individuals, couples and families to better cope with various relational, emotional and psychological issues.

My clients typically are presenting with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal relationship struggles. The clients I see also often suffer from low self-esteem. My clients are typically motivated to heal utilizing a relational, eclectic, and mind-body approach to their treatment. I provide a unique combination of treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based CBT, and TF-CBT.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I earned my doctorate at Nova University School of Professional Psychology, my Master's Degree at Duquesne University, and my Bachelor's Degree from Washington and Jefferson College. I completed an APA approved internship at the VA Medical Center in Salem Virginia. My almost thirty years experience is in both inpatient and outpatient psychotherapy, and have worked in private practice since 1985. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I treat a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, anger management, ADD/ADHD/ODD, loss, behavioral management, and thought disorders.

Life can be difficult to manage. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I am a down to earth and authentic person. My desire is to provide an empathetic and non-judgmental atmosphere where you can deal effectively with the challenges you are facing in your life. My hope is to facilitate change where YOU want it, in order to help YOU embrace a more satisfying existence. I work with those struggling with relational issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBT, health/cancer, grief, divorce/separation, parenting issues, and mood disorders. I utilize several therapeutic approaches in order to best serve you.

I have conducted individual and group sessions. My work thus far has been with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. I use a variety of therapy approaches, such a as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) or Person Centered Therapy (PCT), in order to keep the process of therapy focused on the client and what works best with them. Additionally, I have experience working with a variety of differing mental health diagnoses, such as Autism, anxiety, depression, Bipolar disorder, adjustment issues, to name a few.

Each of us struggles with life's challenges and sometimes we need another perspective. Calling and asking for support can start the process of getting back on track. I have helped individuals, couples and families for 20 years to improve their relationships and overall well being. For those struggling with anxiety, depression and significant adjustments, or disruptions, conflict or loss in relationships, I will provide a respectful, safe and comfortable space in which to quickly identify barriers to success and begin practicing those things that maximize your happiness.

I work with individuals using a holistic approach to mind, body and soul by allowing clients to attain balance and overcome everyday obstacles while meeting the individuals needs. I utilize different approaches to psychotherapy by incorporating various mind-body interventions including: mindfulness skills, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused brief therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. I believe that each and every individual can benefit from increasing self-awareness, focusing on one’s strengths, and the development of effective communication skills.

I work with individuals and couples, from ages 14 to 85. I address issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, drug and alcohol addiction, marital and relationship issues, positive communication, positive parenting, behavior modification, goal and career setting, self esteem, personality and relationship enhancement. My view of counseling is a helping process. Helping you make positive choices about what you want to be, have, do, and give to others, and live a happy life. I will help you learn about your personality type and cope with stressors and past traumas in a confidential, safe and accepting environment.

My experience has lended itself to working with adolescents and young adults on issues around depression and anxiety. This looks different in all people, including adults whom I am happy to work with. My abilities also extend to working through emotion management with all ages. Emotions are hard sometimes and having someone to talk to about them helps, especially when given the tools to help manage them.
