Similarly, we all have a relationship within ourselves.
Do you feel connected and passionate within yourself? With your partner? My professional focus is in helping individuals and couples develop deeply connected, intimate and vibrant relationships with their partner and within themselves. I have found that a committed couple can often work through hurt, misunderstanding, and loneliness to find a relationship that feels safe, loving, and deeply engaged. I work in an open, encouraging, and emotionally attuned style that respects each partner's experience, which can then help to dissolve painful, disconnecting cycles and develop new enlivening, loving, and connected ways of relating.

I approach therapy from a psychodynamic model that emphasizes 1) the therapeutic relationship, 2) early life experiences, and 3) the unconscious.
I view psychotherapy as a process of growth that occurs both through self-exploration and experiential learning. Within that process, I strive to create a compassionate, receptive, and responsive therapeutic environment that promotes reflection, understanding, and change. Through creating an atmosphere that balances safety and challenge, I encourage people to face and overcome their distress, as opposed to adopting coping strategies which often perpetuate feelings of being stuck. Through this process of discovery, life becomes more satisfying when you gain more influence over how you experience yourself, others, and the world.

What is most important to me is building a strong, therapeutic relationship built upon a base of authenticity, respect, and trust to facilitate positive change to meet each individual’s personal goals.
I have many years of experience working with early childhood trauma and severe, persistent mental illness, varying from ages of 5 years to 70+. My goal is to empower and advocate for positive change within you, as the individual, and the system as a whole. The place that we will create together is a safe and judgement free space. I work through an Existential foundation, to help those I work with seek meaning and purpose, with skills built from experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, all within the context of a trauma-informed approach.

I employ a direct, matter-of-fact, solution-focused approach to addressing personal, family, and relationship problems.
I enjoy working with individuals, families, and couples who are seeking to better understand how their relationships and emotional reactions are shaped by their experiences. Together we will explore how we continue to be impacted by the past, examining ways to break out of old, ineffective patterns of communication/reactions and identify and build upon your individual and family strengths to improve your future.

Building a trusting, collaborative relationship is at the forefront of my work, though I’m aware this looks differently with each of my clients. I see the process of change as occurring in the context of relationships and through exploration of patterns that may be preventing one from living a fulfilling life. Through the discovery of these patterns, we can begin to understand how to live life more genuinely. I am a relational and psychodynamic therapist who incorporates various therapeutic approaches and interventions, including cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness techniques.

" My intention is to build a relationship of safety, acceptance and compassion beginning with your first phone call.
Pain and, often, trauma are a normal part of our humanity. Unless there is healing, the pain and/or trauma leave wounds that accompany us throughout our lives. It is my belief and experience these wounds can be healed. I’ve encountered personal healing and have had the privilege of facilitating the healing of others. As wounds heal, our true Self is able to expand, grow and awaken into its true nature, allowing us to live happier, freer and more peaceful.

Difficulties in our lives can interfere with our happiness, perhaps leaving us feeling stuck, anxious, depressed or angry. We want our lives to be better. Fortunately, the human spirit is resilient. This often is when we can heal, reconnect, and move forward in our life. My practice is built on the belief in our power to move from pain, change, to growth and joy. I have seen this in my life and my clients. I find success and purpose in this work. If you want to reach a better place, I have a gift for helping people achieve this, and would like to help you.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
