In Person Therapy Available. I have over twenty years of experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. Whether issues relate to life stressors, relationships, substance abuse, psychiatric illness, or a combination of these difficulties, I can help clients to identify their problems and explore solutions. My goal is to empower my clients through education, to help them learn and utilize skills to assess their problems, identify strategies that have and have not worked in the past, and implement change in both thoughts and actions. Clients carry these skills far beyond the therapeutic relationship.
An open, honest rapport in a trusting environment is essential for growth. My style of therapy is interactive, using approaches that are solution focused. Techniques used may include muscle and breathing relaxation training for stress management and symptom reduction, cognitive restructuring, assertiveness training, anger management, and improved communication skills.
I bring to my practice a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from New York University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I have had extensive experience as a psychotherapist providing mental health and substance abuse treatment in both hospital and private settings.
