Clients I see often want help with relationship conflicts, family or work problems, anxiety, or depression.
I have been in private practice since 1991 and have previously worked in medical, rehabilitation, college counseling, and community mental health settings. I know that asking for help is not easy. Trusting someone you don't know with very personal information requires a leap of faith. Understandably, you may want to know what to expect, should you decide to work with me. Initially, I will work to identify the particular issues that you want to address and then collaborate with you to develop goals and strategies. Throughout the process, I will listen carefully, drawing out particular material for discussion and presenting new information to help you see yourself and your choices with a new perspective. I will suggest possible courses of action, recognizing that only you can decide whether to follow any suggestions that come from the counseling process.

I have worked with clients experiencing a variety of challenges, such as depression, anxiety, addiction, ADHD, divorce, life transitions, relationship problems, and self-esteem.
I have a warm and compassionate, client-centered approach. I believe that we all have the natural tendency to grow and heal, given the right conditions. My goal is to be a steadying, nonjudgmental presence alongside you in your healing journey. I will first focus on fostering emotional safety and trust. I will then support you to develop or deepen self acceptance, reach identified goals, and to live authentically. We will learn from interactions in our work together, as the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful base for change. Ultimately, you will find ways to better navigate your life.

Research indicates that the “goodness of fit” of a therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors that can influence the success of one’s therapy.
Welcome! I’m Elliot, a licensed therapist and owner of Inner Space Therapy, LLC (www.innerspacetherapyllc.com). I work primarily with young adults and adults with concerns related to anxiety, stress, self-esteem, relationships, sexuality/gender, disordered eating, substance use, spirituality, and existential concerns. I have a fondness for working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse folks, and enjoy exploring how our early relational experiences shape the way we show up with ourselves and others. I infuse my client interactions with compassion, empathy, and humor, while supporting clients as they work towards their goals.

You find yourself at odds with your own family, or you continue to find yourself in unhealthy relationship patterns.
I am a licensed professional counselor specializing in trauma, perinatal mental health, and attachment issues. I work with acute and complex traumas, with the understanding trauma is truly in the eye of the beholder. Trauma can be overwhelming. We can find ourselves stuck in the same patterns. Sometimes we may even feel trapped in our own bodies or frozen in fear. Bad memories can refuse to shrink or fade. You may find yourself coping in ways that just make things worse. I have worked with individuals who have childhood abuse/neglect, sexual assault, medical trauma, trauma from being a first responder, and traumatic loss.

At first, we'll identify goals and begin developing the trusting relationship that allows therapy to be helpful.
I work with people who want better relationships with others and better relationships with themselves. Couples, families, and individuals I see are bright, curious, motivated people who find their lives disrupted somehow - by the intrusion of traumatic experiences, life transitions, or persistent struggles with mental health that don't resolve on their own. I have a deep understanding of the unique therapy needs of therapists and doctors and their partners and families, and I enjoy working with folks anywhere on the gender and sexuality spectra. I also work with torture and war trauma survivors, refugees, and asylum seekers.

I work with individuals and couples in areas including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions and stress management. As someone who has personally engaged in mindfulness practices such as meditation, qigong and yoga for 20+ years, I bring a strong presence and compassion to my work with clients.

I believe both the client and counselor have expertise and insight to bring to the collaborative therapeutic relationship. Together, we can curiously explore feelings, thoughts, identity, life events, meaning, and stressors as I believe increased self-awareness is key in addressing deeply-rooted anxieties and tensions and distressing thoughts and emotions.

I am passionate about connecting with people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, relationship styles, and abilities.
Hey there, my name is Alyssa and I use she/they pronouns. I am a queer, neurodivergent marriage and family therapy intern. While my specialty is with couples, families, and groups, I also love working with individuals. I connect with clients through humor, playfulness, and art-making, which I believe can help work through challenges that life can throw at us. In my opinion, art therapy is not about making profound art but is a tool to help process feelings and discover something new.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
