I treat people with nontraditional relationship structures and I provide a pro-LGBTQIA+, kink positive safe space, especially for those who are concerned about "teaching their therapist" the standards and jargon of gender identity, sexuality, ENM, or kink.
Are you relating too much to TikToks about ADHD? Are you a trauma survivor without a diagnosis? Have you been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, but that doesn't quite feel right? I often tell my clients that I am a great therapist for those who have "a spaghetti of concerns." I focus on pulling out the individual noodles of the spaghetti and laying them out for us to see, discuss, understand, treat, and build coping skills. I treat trauma survivors, people with PTSD, neurodiverse people, and those looking for a welcoming, nonjudgemental space. I take a mind-body approach for whole wellness.

My greatest approach is building a genuine rapport to create a trusting relationship.
Hello and welcome! My name is Ivy Lam and my goal is to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment, so you can feel safe and validated when you are talking! One of the approaches I use is a strength-based approach. We all have our own strength, and sometimes when life gets hard it can be hard to see that we have the power within ourselves. I am here to help you see the greatness you have within yourself through many different evidence-based approaches such as strength-based, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.

Therapy can help you to bounce back and gain strength. Your emotional well-being is directly related to your quality of life and those around you. It’s a gift to yourself that has a ripple effect. We’ll work together to cultivate strengths, solve problems, & bring out the best qualities that are always there but sometimes get lost in the struggles. I believe it is important as your therapist to listen and be present. This is your time to increase self-awareness, learn new strategies and heal. Examples of what we work on include boundaries, communication, personal growth, and a new relationship with parts of you that feel stuck.

I believe that with trustworthy support and a strong therapeutic relationship, new moms can learn to break free of unhelpful patterns of thinking, reduce negative symptoms, and find ways to experience joy and confidence during this monumental transformation that is motherhood.
I began my career as a school psychologist supporting the emotional and behavioral needs of children and families, many with trauma histories. In 2023, I expanded my practice by obtaining my Perinatal Mental Health Certification, with the goal of helping soon-to-be and new mothers navigate the perinatal period. Matrescence, the transformative process of becoming a mother, can be a time of great beauty and self-discovery, but it also often brings with it deep pain and difficulty. It is a time of intense psychological, physical, and emotional change and many experience shifts in their relationships and self-identity.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
