Are you struggling in your relationship? Do you have the same arguments over and over again? Do most conversations end in a stale mate? Are you not trusting your partner? Do you wonder how can I make my relationship stronger ? Are you or your partner talking about divorce but wish you had a way to change that?

I understand the importance of developing resilience-to-change in order to effectively cope with major life transitions (marriage, birth of a child, retirement, new job). Without such resilience, life can feel overwhelming, self esteem becomes precarious, and mood can dip dramatically. Through my warm, direct, highly interactional approach (elaborated at www.marshavannicelli.com), I collaborate with clients to address behaviors that continue to cause pain. My books, teaching and supervision have provided training for 100s of other clinicians to help their clients to feel more empowered in relationship and to fulfill their potential

I am very active in the therapy relationship and work hard to help clients uncover the dysfunctional patterns that get in the way of genuine, healthy relationships, career goals and personal happiness.
I am committed to helping individuals to find the best within themselves and to share that with those most important to them. Whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, relationship difficulties (including "dating stress"), or life stresses, I always try to find what will be the most effective way to help you achieve your goals and live a happier, authentic, life.

Sub-specialties: Anxiety and Stress Management Depression Relationship Issues Low achievement Compulsive/Addictive Disorders Trauma Parent consultation Personal Growth and Fulfillment.
Dr. Packard is a Modern Psychoanalyst and Licensed Mental Health Clinician. He has demonstrated an unique ability to integrate various forms of therapy into one unified approach; a blend of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy for problems of everyday life. Why use Integrative Psychotherapy? Most clinicians know that no one single theory or therapy works for all clients, all problems or situations. However, the vast majority of therapists strongly adhere to one particular approach which is fine if their approach matches the client they are seeing, the problem they are treating, where the client is in treatment, and so forth.

I specialize in: Marital/Relationship issues.
The purpose of life is to live a joyous existence. Sometimes easier said than done. But therapy is about empowering people to do just that. Figuring out how to: like yourself better; unapologetically be & speak the real you; engage meaningfully with and effectively with your partner or your kids; recover from an affair or other breach of trust; cope with divorce and remarriage. How you privately think & feel about yourself, and what you think and feel about your marriage/relationship/parenthood are fundamental concerns to all of us. I have over 30 years experience helping individuals and couples achieve their best life.

I help people who are exploring questions of sexuality, gender expression, and relationship styles to accept themselves in their beauty and strength, so they can experience loving connection in their lives. Whether you are struggling with gender expression, sexual orientation, desire for multiple partners, BDSM or kink, or other desires that are outside the mainstream, I am here to listen, to educate, to guide, and to help you integrate the parts of you that are currently closed off. I also work with trauma and grief, and provide a space for the boundaried expression and relief of old wounds.

With 18 years of clinical experience, I have worked with diverse client groups facing a wide-range of issues from depression, anxiety, trauma and substance abuse to coping with work-related stress, life transitions and relationship challenges.
Overwhelmed by workplace challenges and family demands? Overwrought over disappointing relationships? Overextended and unable to find a way to bring balance to your life? A new perspective, new insights, can overcome some of these negative 'overs', and I believe that, as an empathic and well-trained therapist, I may well be able to help.

My style is warm and active (I ask questions and give feedback), while really using our relationship as one of our change 'tools'.
By interweaving different types of therapy, we collaborate towards your goals in a way that's effective and respectful of your time, energy and money. Each session can be useful - I track this carefully by asking for feedback and by giving choices on how we work together. The time in-between sessions also is used - through practice 'homework' we choose individually, as a couple or as a family, or through observation/thinking. This helps us to identify what helps you to change or restrains you from change - we can then work together from an attitude of curiosity rather than "shoulds".

My work is anchored in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Inner Relationship Focusing, and mindfulness-based approaches.
I view therapy as a creative, collaborative process that facilitates both change and self-acceptance. As a therapist, I create a curious, nonjudgmental space in which we can jointly explore your past and present experience. Our work aims at a deeper understanding of the circumstances that led you to therapy--perhaps painful ways of relating to yourself, to others, or to work. We will work toward helping you grow beyond the patterns or obstacles that have felt limiting so far--and toward helping you realize a more spacious, hopeful, and fulfilling experience of yourself and relationships.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
