There’s no one therapeutic approach to help us live happier lives. Recovery from painful experiences, emotional or physical abuse, a complicated hurt-filled relationship, impasses at work, coping mechanisms that no longer help—these different challenges deserve flexible approaches. Childhood skills no longer fit the problems we face as adults. Grief that couldn’t be dealt with then is more complicated now. Relief from depression and anxiety cannot work if confidence, strength, and intimacy are blocked. Understanding the whole person—creating new approaches and thoughtful solutions to problems—is the way I think and work.

I lead groups for Professionals in mental health who wish to carve out time for their own emotional care and needs; and for Young Adults, struggling with depression and anxiety around relationships and transitions . It is within the process of relationship-making (the engine that powers group), that aspects of self are revealed that hinder or enhance connecting with others. Group strives to help members feel SEEN from which emerges a sense of self worth and belonging. Rome was not built in a day, however, and neither is real and lasting change for those of us imbedded in old wars and old narratives no longer serving us.

Effective psychotherapy is a collaborative process and begins with a motivated client and a well-trained clinician. Whether you're dealing with a challenging relationship, a frustrating career, or symptoms of anxiety or depression, therapy can be a highly effective resource. In the first couple of sessions, I conduct an evaluation to familiarize myself with your presenting issues and history. We then take steps to hone skills you already have and to develop new strategies to help you navigate your life more successfully. Depending on your needs and preferences, we can work in a short-term model or on an open-ended basis.

I work with college students, young adults, and adults navigating various challenges such as life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and disordered eating.
Throughout life, we experience many transitions and challenges that are difficult to navigate. Sometimes, we need support in identifying and removing the barriers that can hold us back. I utilize a strength-based, multicultural-informed and feminist lens to empower my clients to develop insight and bring out their inner resiliencies.

At some point, we all experience difficulties and unpleasant emotions in life. I help clients to learn how to cope with family changes, life transitions, loss, school and work stressors and help develop meaningful relationships through exploring relationship patterns. To meet the individual needs of each client, I empower them to gain self-awareness of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Together we identify their personal strengths, practice mindfulness, and develop coping strategies that can be utilized daily.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
