I believe the past often shows up in the present and I strive to create a space where we can honor your story and help you feel grounded in the here and now. Having lived in several parts of the world and experienced many different cultures, I have found what remains universal are the ways in which people tell stories and make meaning of their experiences. This is a powerful tool in the therapeutic space as well and one I make room for. By focusing on the counseling relationship, my hope is to cultivate a space that is welcoming and free of judgment.

The exquisitely personal work we do in psychotherapy is one of the most challenging, and most richly rewarding efforts we can undertake. Seeking a deeper understanding of ourselves, healing pain from past relationships and pursuing a more energetic life are essential journeys to take. I am passionate about empowering individuals to unlock their authentic capabilities through a blend of humor, empathy, practical therapeutic techniques, and scientifically proven methodologies. My 18 years experience and a PhD in Counseling allows me to combine an understanding of real-world practicality with a depth of knowledge. Let me support you by teletherapy/phone sessions during this COVID-19 crisis. Facing challenges around trauma, intimacy, sexuality, gender, and sexual orientation can be the most intimate challenges of our lives, about which we're afraid of being misunderstood and judged. I'll help you using methods specific to your needs, situation, and comfort level (which never involve any nudity, touching, or sexual behavior). I'll help you feel empowered, achieve healing, reclaim intimacy, and improve quality of life. We'll work together, at your pace, in a relaxed, non-judgmental, private setting. My office is a safe, LGBTQ affirming space.

The word “support” might call to mind images of braces, splints, tracks, or advice— all things that try to force a certain form. What I mean by “support” looks less like applied pressure and more like a gentle holding up so that another human soul may unfurl in their own time and take whatever shape would be in alignment with their natural way. Support means to protect, attend to, witness, and reflect back the worth in every process— and when appropriate, to collaborate and name their experience of psychic expansion through words or images.

Are you haunted by the past, consumed by fear, pain, guilt or sadness? I have helped many others like you end suffering and overcome fears, finally putting their pasts behind them. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting are specialized therapies for healing Trauma and PTSD more quickly and completely. I am also experienced with grief/loss, panic and anxiety disorders, phobias, depression, low self esteem, and other issues. In addition, I work with LGBTQI, Gender Identity, transgender people and transitioning. I am open-minded and accepting and I welcome folks from all spiritual belief systems, sexual orientations, gender expressions, colors, shapes and sizes.

Throughout my career, I have dedicated my practice to serving adults, adolescents, and families who identify as queer and/or transgender/non-binary. In addition, I also provide play therapy services to children (5-10 years-old) and their families who are experiencing emotional and behavioral regulation concerns. It is my philosophy that we are never too young or too old to begin our journey through growth, healing, and self-discovery. Using therapeutic practices that are centered around mind-body connections and trauma informed care, I would love to be a part of you or your child's journey towards wellness.

As a Nationally Certified Counselor, I rely on evidence-based practices like Brainspotting and Mindful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (M-CBT), to help children, adults, and families heal from the past, find stability in the present and hope for the future. My training and experience includes working with the effects of trauma (PTSD) and stressful experiences (e.g. emotional and sexual abuse, affairs, divorce, family conflict, grief, work stress, medical etc). I also work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, gender and sexuality, OCD, Maternal Mental Health, self-harm, behavior disorders and Insomnia.

My personal and professional experience with mental health began not as a therapist, rather as an advocate for equality in the women’s health community.
