I encourage you to reach out and ask any questions you may have about the counseling process, the professional relationship, and working with me! If we end up working together, you have my commitment to approach our time with compassion and empathy.
Currently, accepting new telehealth clients! There are many reasons people seek out therapy. Problems can range from major life changes or minor transitions, frustrations with repeating the same mistakes, to general dissatisfaction with your overall quality of life. It is normal to struggle sometimes. You may be having trouble meeting goals or you may feel stuck or confused about what could be standing in your way. Often the hardest part is taking the first step on your mental health journey. If you are looking for direction and are ready to work towards creating a better quality of life, I can help.

My approach aims to deeply understand your emotional experience and relationship interactions so you can experience relief, acceptance, and transformation.
As a clinical psychologist, people contact me for psychotherapy when experiencing emotional pain or distress, within themselves and sometimes their relationships. This pain can feel stuck and take on a life of its own, with ways of coping that no longer seem to be working. Yet the person feels ready for a change - ready to begin a process of growth and healing. Couples approach me for relationship therapy who struggle with disconnection, miscommunication, reactivity - couples stuck in negative patterns. These couples are ready for a change, ready for greater intimacy, security and connection in their most important relationship.

Using a contemporary psychodynamically-oriented approach, I work with those struggling with relationship and family issues, parenting difficulties, divorce, trauma, unresolved grief, loss, anxiety and depression, among other issues.
I think as human beings we want to feel seen, heard, appreciated, respected, loved, and valued. I believe most of us want to make a difference in the lives of those around us, our loved ones, friends and community. Making a difference and enjoying healthy and gratifying relationships and contributing to one's community can take many forms but they all involve relationships. If you find yourself feeling deeply unhappy, confused and dissatisfied in any of your relationships, I'd like to learn more about you and what you are seeking in your life and in your relationships.

My initial goal with all of my clients is to build a strong relationship with them.
Bad habits do not form from fully bad intentions. I believe that most people do the best that they can with what they have available to them at the time. As a result, I often see people stuck in self-destructive or harmful patterns that they themselves don't know how they got there. Change begins when we start to have the feeling that these old patterns and ways of being are no longer working for us in the way that they used to. The feeling that something has to change, and maybe feeling lost or defeated in how to make a meaningful change, may have been what lead you here.

Each person and relationship is unique so I use aspects of a few modalities in my work (Narrative, EFT, and SFBT).
Starting therapy can feel daunting. Will my therapist understand me? How can I trust this stranger with my most vulnerable thoughts and feelings? Will this really help my anxiety/relationship/emotions/etc.? Is it worth it? First, you are not alone in these thoughts. Deciding to seek therapy and finding a therapist are big steps towards change that can be challenging. Second, I am here to walk alongside you through this process at your own pace. I believe that every thought and behavior makes sense in context. Therefore, I collaborate with you to explore and understand your personal context so we can successfully facilitate change.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
