The longest relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself.
I’m sure you’ve been asked this a thousand times… “I’m so impressed—how do you do it?” On the one hand, that question is SO satisfying as your inner perfectionist steps up to claim her gold medal. But on the other, you’re silently screaming that the pressure of trying to do it all is crushing you. Your perfectionism shows up in your work. You probably find yourself working way more hours than your colleagues. It might show up in your relationships. Have you ever gone into a tailspin because you wanted to plan the perfect party for a loved one? Or it might show up within yourself—how you eat, dress, exercise, or maintain your home.

Whether it's a career issue, relationship issue, or something personal you've never shared with anyone before, we can work on it in therapy and help you improve your life.
As a man, feeling like you should be further ahead in life is one of the worst possible feelings. Whether you hate going into the office every day or you're totally unfulfilled in your marriage, feeling like a failure in one area bleeds over into every other part of your life. Escaping into sports, or TV, or just drinking with your friends no longer works. And the clock keeps ticking away the weeks, days, hours of your life. The good news is: you're not alone.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual, family, and couples therapy. I am also a 17-year Army veteran and continue to serve in the US Army Reserve. I work primarily with adults, veterans, and first responders. Despite our many differences, we all face challenges and setbacks that can put the brakes on life, and share common goals of moving forward and being better today than yesterday. Whether you are a corporate professional; working two jobs to keep the lights on; or a couple married for 20+ years, we could all use someone to talk to and get a different perspective on life.

I have been in private practice for 34 years in the capacity of family therapist and clinical director at two residential facilities. I do not believe in long term therapy, and on occasion, clients will come back for a "tune-up." I am direct, I will give you feedback, (not tell you what to do) and be very supportive at the same time. Family therapists, believe that behaviors get passed down from generation to generation. We would explore your "family of origin" and sort out what behaviors are working for you and what needs to change. If YOU do the work, You WILL get better!

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
