Building trust in any relationship (including the therapeutic one) can be difficult, especially if you have experienced trauma.
Are you the type of person who longs for connection and safety in your relationships, but ends up pushing those who care for you away? Often these behaviors are responses to childhood trauma. While these responses may have helped you survive your trauma in childhood, they are only causing you distress as an adult. If you have found your current way of coping with daily life or handling relationships is not working for you, I can help guide you in setting and achieving your goals of healthier communication, coping skills, and trust in your relationship.

Reaching out and starting the therapeutic relationship is such a courageous step.
There are experiences in life that just outweigh our ability to cope. When this happens and you feel consumed by anxiety, depression or stress, you do not need to face this alone. If you are looking for support to improve your overall well being, increase your quality of life and feel authentically connected in your relationships, I want to partner with you in these goals.

Did you know that most people will seek an outside perspective for support at some point in their lives? Whether it be for symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or past trauma - we all need a confidant who can listen, understand, and offer actionable solutions. What I hear most often from clients is that I offer a balance of creating a warm and comfortable environment, while also, challenging them in ways that make them motivated to create change in their lives. Even though emotional safety and sexual connection are important parts of every relationship, people are not always taught the skills for creating healthy communication on these subjects. You may have found yourself on this website, hoping someone can teach you this elusive skill. My training and passion for helping partnerships grow in this way may be exactly what you're looking for! Together, we will open the vitally important dialogue around sex/sexuality, practice using new vocabulary around needs, and celebrate a new way of understanding desires, fantasies, and pleasure.

Life is full of difficulties, disappointments, and pain, as well as growth, joy, healing, and adventure, and sometimes we need help bridging those two things in our life. In sessions with clients, I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space to collaborate on healing and self discovery together. Within sessions, I meet clients with curiosity and without judgment as I invite them to be vulnerable, experiment, and take risks. Having experienced therapy personally, I know of the importance of gaining a strong, safe, and empowering relationship between therapist and client, and this is one of my biggest priorities in my work.

I help clients that are struggling with addiction, trauma and symptoms of trauma, relationship issues, men's issues, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. There can be a variety of reasons to make a change and that change can only happen when we recognize that we want to improve our life. Generally people that are successful in accomplishing their goals are motivated to participate in the process and tend to view therapy as a supportive piece of that journey. There are no quick solutions to making a change, but if you choose to work with me, you will begin to see your life transform and I will be beside you along the way.

Anxiety, depression and self critical thoughts can take the joy from our lives and leave us feeling hopeless and alone. Our relationship with food may be unhealthy and we may feel suicidal or compelled to self harm. We want to move through the world with confidence while living a life of purpose but are overwhelmed and feel stuck. Goals go unmet, and our world becomes smaller as we resist challenges in our social life, school and career, out of fear and discomfort. We want to have more friends, do well in school and have a satisfying job or family life. We want to be happy and fulfilled.

Any type of significant loss, whether it be the death of a person or animal, job loss, or the ending of a relationship, involves grief.
Hello, and welcome! Are you finding life's challenges pretty overwhelming at times? I've been there, and I understand. I can help you explore those challenges and find the best way for you to address them. Are you at a crossroads in your journey, feeling that there must be more in life for you to experience? I've been helping clients with these and other concerns for over 35 years. I can help with anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality issues, health concerns, and grief and loss. Your sessions with me will be at least a full 60 minutes; I just don't believe in the "50 minute hour!" My education and experience as a registered nurse and psychotherapist allows me to provide you with an integrated and holistic approach to whatever you are experiencing in your life. Our emotions and mental status are always intertwined with our physical health and need to be approached as a whole. I also believe that we are more than our mind/body selves. There are aspects to our lives that cannot be explained by traditional studies, and these need to be acknowledged, too.

It is important to find a counselor that is a good fit for you. While techniques, coping skills and tools have their place, I believe it is the relationship and trust built between the client and the counselor that are the main pathway in achieving insight and change. I would like to help you learn new and healthier ways to view your circumstance and to face the difficult times.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
