People grow and flourish in relationship. A good long-term relationship encourages self-respect and gives the added benefit of life long connection to another person who can supports, touch and cares over a life time. I understand that long term intimacy is hard work. I help couples do this necessary work with skill, patience and tenacity. Sexual problems in a relationship cause hurt, anger, shame, and loneliness. I provide a safe informative environment to solve sexual and couple problems.

I also work with individuals struggling with relationship concerns and life transitions.
Although we all need support, it can be very difficult to ask for help. I strive to create a collaborative, respectful, and supportive environment in order to address your challenges, determine your goals, and achieve the personal changes you want to make.

I provide counseling that centers on supporting a healthy means of helping clients on an individual, marital, and family level. Emotional responses to life stress often derail and distract us from adjusting and maintaining good health. In facing challenges it's important to take care of yourself and those you love by getting the support and help you need. I enjoy working with clients of all ages to address both individual and relationship issues.

Therapy is a relationship so I try to work with people one or, preferably, more times per week.
I am a Psychoanalyst who has provided psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to individuals (from age 16) and couples in the Denver area since 1987. To further my skills as a therapist I completed advanced training in Psychoanalysis via the Colorado Center for Psychoanalytic Studies and the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis. I also worked for a number of years at the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center and learned a great deal about working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

It takes a great deal of courage and humility to seek out a therapist. If your own life, your romantic relationship, or both are leaving you unsatisfied, stuck, or unhappy, I commend you for considering outside help. The support of people whom I trust and who care for me – including my own therapist – has been instrumental to my own healing and growth. I would be honored to provide you with that same partnership in your journey of change. When we combine my training in therapy with your knowledge of who you are and where you want to go, we can identify meaningful goals together and help you progress toward them.

My approach to the counseling process is relationship and process based.
SERVICIOS EN ESPAÑOL- You are free to be YOU. We will find comfort in the shared human experience and create space for the possibilities of growth far beyond the walls you previously built to protect yourself but which are no longer serving you. I strive to create a space of non-judgement, radical acceptance, and unconditional positive regard to meet you wherever you are at and facilitate your personal journey. Together, we can rewrite the stories you may have been living in pre-defined by shame, trauma, culture, stigma, and external expectations.

Therapy asks us to tap into vulnerable parts of ourselves. My clients are courageous enough to show up as their authentic selves, therefore I value being my authentic self within our therapeutic relationship. I incorporate empirically supported interventions into our time processing concerns, building self-awareness, making meaningful changes, and exploring identities. My hope is you'll find safety and comfort as we build rapport and get into meaningful work. I specialize working with individuals who desire to dedicate less time and energy to food and body image concerns, and more time to aspects of life truly important to them.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
