Areas of specialization include: marital/relationship difficulties (such as divorce, break-ups, conflict), individual struggles (such as anxiety, depression, work and/or academic concerns), and parenting/child behavior problems (such as oppositional-defiant, aggression, compliance, school performance).
Accepting New Clients - I enjoy working with people who are motivated to change, but just need some direction in how to make those changes a reality. I work best with people who appreciate an action-oriented approach. This means we will collaboratively identify which intermediate steps need to be taken to achieve your overall treatment goals.

I have experience working with many different issues including anxiety, depression, relationship distress, substance abuse, phase of life changes, and mood disorders.
Sometimes our struggles seem so overwhelming that we are not able to see a way to work through them. Sometimes we just stop feeling like ourself and cannot figure out how to change that. And sometimes we end up being controlled by our overwhelming emotions instead of feeling like we are managing them. We are not able to always able to accurately assess and address problems and need the help of a Therapist to become skillful in managing life stressors and emotions.

I specialize in anxiety, stress, relationship dynamics, loss, change and growth.
When we are under too much daily stress or experienced major life changes and loss, it's not uncommon to feel anxious, overwhelmed and irritable. Our usual ways of coping may no longer work and "relief" may be short-lived. As a solution-focused therapist, I help people gain practical tools to navigate stress and uncertainty, while gaining a deeper, more compassionate understanding of themselves. In therapy we can focus on the past or present (or worries about the future), develop strategies to cope, empower and heal, so you can live the life you truly deserve.

Seeking therapy is courageous and vulnerable and choosing a therapist can be challenging. A trusting and connected relationship with a therapist where you can bring your full self without experiencing judgement is essential for change, since our distress is often related to disconnection from others or ourselves. Therefore, my primary focus is on building an accepting and safe therapeutic relationship while also appreciating your individual needs and remaining flexible in our work together. From this relationship, we will be able to identify factors preventing change and help you work toward living a meaningful life consistent with your values and goals.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
