Develop effective communication to propel your relationship to new heights.
Not feeling like your "usual self" but can't figure out why? Are you irritable, uninterested in your previously enjoyable activities, or disengaged from daily life? Is your mind replaying old scenarios or repeating "What if" questions and worrisome thoughts? Perhaps your current coping skills just aren't hitting the mark this time... Involved in a relationship where either you or your partner seem plagued by "trust issues", insecurity, and revolving arguments? Are you seeing changes in expressions of love and sexual interest or thinking "my significant other doesn't understand me?"

I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma, relationship challenges, and more.
When life stressors lead to feelings of sadness, anger, irritability, confusion, or anxiousness, it might be time to seek professional help. These feelings are common and may impact our mood, energy, relationships, and overall daily functioning. But remember, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to provide you with a safe, non-judgmental space to process those feelings, explore and understand where those emotions might be coming from, and learn new skills to improve your overall quality of life.

I was a middle school teacher for ten years. I enjoyed working with children and adolescents more than I did grading papers. I became a psychologist to help children and their families live healthier, more productive lives. I approach psychotherapy first from the perspective that insight into oneself provides then the power to choose and to change. If you don't understand what is going on, you are unlikely to make changes. Secondly, the power to change is enhanced by learning and applying better coping skills. Insight and tools provide a growth experience.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
