Maybe it’s big stuff you’re disagreeing about—money, sex, or parenting—or something seemingly trivial that keeps tripping you up. Or perhaps the relationship you’re struggling with isn’t the one with your partner, but a parent or sibling. Whatever it is you’re facing, you both believe reconnection & repair is possible, and you’re ready to get the support you need to do that.

Accepting new clients. We all want to be understood but people who actually listen to us are rare. Many things in the world recently have increased our stress, causing conflicts and straining our relationships. Sometimes we all need a trustworthy, confidential person to talk to who will listen and understand us. For 20+ years, I've provided a safe space for people to talk about their anxiety, fears, and relationships. I listen attentively & without judgement. I work with you to find a way forward in your life. I welcome all people regardless of age, gender, race, sexual preference, gender identity, faith, or ability to pay.

Seeking help takes courage. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I work with individuals, couples, and families who are interested in addressing the various emotional challenges of life. I believe everyone is capable of growth, change, and healing, and it is important to have a safe, confidential, therapeutic environment in which to work through your concerns.

As Forrest Gump's mother once said, "You've gotta put the past behind you before you can move on." While this idea sounds somewhat simple, putting the past behind us; especially a traumatic one, can be easier said than done. In my work with individuals, I embrace a philosophy that helps people explore their past experiences in order to better understand their present day ones. Additionally, because I believe God to be the source of all things; healing and hope included, I will utilize a faith-based approach in session if desired by prospective clients.

I believe counseling is a partnership in which we work together in developing and implementing a plan to reach the clients treatment goals. Each client is unique and different, and I adjust according to the clients needs. I work well with clients who are ready to do the work to heal and grow. The client and I are active throughout the counseling process. I have found that this process is a journey towards healing and thriving in all areas of life.

I feel privileged when a distressed family, couple, or individual allows me to accompany and guide them through their healing journeys. My clients include adolescents and adults who are dealing with issues such as anticipatory or post-death grief, difficulty adjusting to life transitions (including but not limited to adolescence, launching of children, empty nest, job loss), depression, stress or anxiety, traumatic stress, couple problems, divorce, blended or adoptive family adjustment, and adult survival from childhood sexual abuse.

Gulf Wind Counseling was founded with a vision of providing high-quality psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults regardless of socio-economic background. We develop treatment strategies based on the specific needs of clients using evidence-based therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
