Some of my specific clinical interests include relationship communication and trust issues, couples desire discrepancies, sexual pain, erectile and ejaculation issues, lack of orgasm, women's and men's sexual identity development, premarital counseling, and clients' growth after sexual trauma.
Sex is an area of life that can both impact and be impacted by everything else in life. Yet we often feel so alone in our sexual lives with very few places and people to turn for help. It is for exactly that reason that I was driven to be a sex therapist and open Peak Couples & Sex Therapy, a group psychotherapy practice. Our sexual selves matter. Our sexual needs, wants, fears and struggles all matter. I want to create the space for others that my younger self deserved to have when she was growing up, trying to understand how sex and relationships impacted her confidence, identity, values and needs.

In addition to EMDR, I also help clients overcome issues related to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and relationship conflict utilizing Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (mbCBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and attachment informed Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT).
A lot of our psychological pain is rooted in past traumatic experiences. When we experience trauma, memories of these events remain with us as unprocessed memories, affecting our moods, behaviors, sense of self, and our body. As a Holistic Psychotherapist specializing in EMDR, I empower my clients to create impactful change in their lives by helping them gain insight into themselves/others and overcome their limiting beliefs through processing these difficult memories. Healing from trauma can be hard work but I am with my clients every step of the way and provide them tthem the skills and resources that they need.

What's wrong with this relationship? The same problems keep on repeating time after time. So what does a study of psychology reveal? A well-trained and experienced psychotherapist can help to shine a light into the dark unconscious places which shroud the mysteries. This helps to bring the issues into consciousness, and once there, allows you to work with them. This work involves change. There may be many underlying issues including: mental states of anxiety and depression, an addiction, anger, lack of trust, various stressors, poor communication, extended family interferences, and more.

I am a psychotherapist located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC, offering individual, group, and couples therapy. I have a diverse practice and enjoy working with men and women to help them grow from within and improve the relationship they have with both themselves and others. Often, our sense of self is formed by our earliest relationships. In the therapeutic relationship, we can learn to cultivate a healthier, clearer sense of self. I create a warm, empathetic space where clients can learn to better understand themselves, let go of self-limiting beliefs, and build healthy coping mechanisms.

Successful therapy depends on two people co-creating a relationship that is unique, safe and compassionate.
Seeking relief from unpleasant feelings like sadness, irritability, anxiety, depression, anger & grief? When you struggle emotionally, small things can require greater effort. You may have feelings or reactions you can’t explain that defy your best strategies for feeling better. Perhaps you find yourself repeating patterns of behavior you’re not proud of. Or lack interest in pursuits you once enjoyed. Maybe you envision a happier, more productive life but don’t know how to get it. Therapy can help you identify and harness your strengths while adapting and altering patterns that don’t serve you well.

In relationship and couples counseling, I help clients develop effective communication and conflict management skills, and relationship building blocks which generate understanding, intimacy, satisfaction, respect, affection, appreciation, and the mutual support that is so important for reaching personal aspirations.
I love helping individuals and couples achieve their goals and aspirations. I offer a caring, safe, and healing environment that allows clients the opportunity to explore, experience, work through problems, and create solutions that expand their potential for growth and wellness. As a proponent of integrative and holistic therapy that honors the mind-body connection and its impact on well-being, health, and happiness, I attend to the whole person, not just a set of symptoms or problems. I emphasize teaching skills that develop inner resources for successful coping in life. I use a variety of methods, but the method has to meet your needs.

I also work with clients to improve their relationship with sex, both healthy, fun sexuality and compulsive behavior.
I believe you’re stronger and wiser than your current struggles might lead you to believe. It’s just that sometimes our core strength gets covered up by the stress of life and the difficulties we’ve faced. With me, therapy is about helping your best self emerge, which often takes a big dose of compassion and a much-needed break. I work with clients on a variety of issues, including anxiety and depression, relationships and sex, career changes, grief, trauma, and growing up in dysfunctional families. I'm also passionate about supporting LGBTQ, trans, and gender expansive clients.

One of my favorite therapy-isms is, "if nothing changes, nothing changes". You deserve the opportunity to feel your best and I would be honored to help you on your journey towards emotional healing and self-discovery. The best part of being a therapist is getting to discover all the unique strengths and coping skills that everyone possesses, and helping them identify and access those gifts. I love working with people in all stages of life, and truly believe in the healing power of a strong, therapeutic relationship.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
