Coming to therapy is an act of bravery and you can feel good about taking the first step! Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, a life transition, relationship difficulties, trauma or other problems, we can work on them together. I view therapy sessions as your time – you set the agenda by talking about what feels important to you. I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents and practice from a multiculturally-informed, LGBTQAI-allied and sex-positive stance.

As a retired school counselor with extensive background in dealing with substance abuse issues, I am best positioned to assist clients with difficulties related to social, academic or behavioral issues. I am particularly attuned to the ways in which parenting styles impact upon the functioning of children and to the most efficient ways of creating change to promote the likeliness of a person's or family's success and happiness. At times, these are most effectively addressed through an examination and fostering of an individual's goal-setting and motivation and how these may encumber his or her movement on the path to future satisfaction.

As a clinician, my aim is to create an empathetic, non-judgemental environment for you to explore and navigate your own unique challenges and goals. I have experience working with folks who struggle with depression, anxiety, suicidality, autism and ADHD, complex trauma, gender and sexuality issues, as well as race-related stress and trauma.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
