I have been trained primarily in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness & Relational Theory.
You long for peace and clarity in your life but when navigating a major life transition those goals can appear out of reach. Divorce, illness, family and career changes can leave any one of us reeling, feeling beaten down, overwhelmed, confused and alone. A therapist can provide that safe non-judgmental space to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be preventing you from moving forward. I work hard to tailor my approach to meet my client's needs always honoring the fact that this work is collaborative and each client is unique.

Intergenerational family dysfunction is not inevitable. I work with adults and children to untangle relational and behavioral patterns that are often foundational to the presenting problem. I take an integrative, strength-based approach and help the client identify perceptions and attributions that may be interfering with optimal self development and fulfilling relationships. This therapeutic approach is helpful in changing dysfunctional relational dynamics to those that promote growth and well-being.

I use an integrative approach that weaves together Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (somatic), Attachment and Relational Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Expressive Arts practices.
Buddhism teaches us that change is a fundamental truth of the healing process. I love to support people negotiating change and life transitions. Change is undoubtedly hard, and anxiety, depression and grief often accompany it. Fortunately, so does new growth. I specialize in attachment and relationships and believe they are the foundation of our ability to heal. I support people through separation and divorce, perinatal and postpartum adjustment, parenting and co-parenting, family conflict, grief and loss, trauma and racial identity development. As we heal our relationship with self, we show up more fully in relationship with others

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and most informed by psychodynamic, relational, cognitive, and dialectical-behavioral theories and research.
My style as a psychotherapist is supportive, empathic, and nonjudgmental. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with relationship issues, overwhelming emotions, and challenging life circumstances and transitions. I aim to help people better understand their areas of struggle and how they can use their strengths to overcome challenges. My goal is to help the people I work with achieve meaningful change. I prioritize tailoring treatment to individual needs. We can either begin therapy with concrete problem solving techniques and skills, or with examining what is going on in your life and identifying areas to focus on.

The objective is to access your inner strength and use it to examine and mend maladaptive patterns, whether they be emotional, relational, or trauma-based.
There is a reason why the safety protocols on airplanes instruct us to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first in case of an emergency. We can not care for others if we don’t focus on our own needs, even with the very limited time most of us have daily. Yet many of us get stuck on a hamster wheel and end up giving and giving until we simply have nothing left. This in conjunction with trauma can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. My goal is to disrupt that cycle by providing a safe space for my clients to work through their most vulnerable emotions and emerge ready to tackle life’s challenges.

Using a psychodynamic and relational approach, I help my clients identify patterns and recurring themes in their lives.
You may feel discouraged, overwhelmed, or exhausted right now. You may have challenges in your personal or professional relationships. You may be struggling to find a sense of purpose. Imagine what it would be like to have someone really listen to your story.

Joy of life is always accompanied by pain, and there are times that you feel beaten and defeated. Psychological symptoms can surface and compromise your happiness and functioning during these struggles. Therapy can help you to stay on the right track or find the right directions to minimize unnecessary sufferings.

People see a therapist for many reasons. Some feel overwhelmed, sad, disconnected, angry, or confused; some seek guidance as they cope with traumatic events or navigate stressful transitions. Therapy offers opportunities to heal from trauma and loss, to deepen our self-understanding, and to grow in our capacity for authenticity and connection. It takes courage to reach out for support, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey.

In the sea of content available online, we may think that if we just take in the right information, we can feel better, but this is not the case. I believe that people change and develop in relationship. I practice therapy in a way that prioritizes the therapeutic relationship itself as the medium for change. This relationship serves as a launching point for gaining insight into one's life and practicing new ways of being. Also, I help patients see the role that trauma has played in their lives by providing education and nurturing areas of psychological growth that were suppressed because of trauma.

I have always liked the metaphor that therapy is like riding in the car with someone. You are the one behind the wheel, deciding where and how fast we go and I am the one with the map helping you to get there. I believe in forming collaborative relationships with the people I work with. I strive to help you understand yourself better so that you can make meaningful change in your life. My goal is to help you form strategies and ways of thinking that can be translated from the therapy room to every day life - to work, school. relationships, and within yourself.

Has the compulsive use of pornography gotten in the way of having the connections you want to achieve in your life? Has your relationship been affected by adult content or chronic infidelity? Nowadays many people use adult content and can not recognize if they have a problem until it is brought to their attention by a loved one or they may have tried to unsuccessfully limit their use. Many people are simply just trying to escape from depression, anxiety or boredom. You may feel stuck, ashamed and embarrassed keeping this secret. Seeking help is the first step towards wellness.

I am here to walk with you in a judgement-free, yet honest journey toward emotional safety. I am here whether you face anxiety, hard relationships, stress, or family tension.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
