Using a psychodynamic and relational approach, I help my clients identify patterns and recurring themes in their lives.
You may feel discouraged, overwhelmed, or exhausted right now. You may have challenges in your personal or professional relationships. You may be struggling to find a sense of purpose. Imagine what it would be like to have someone really listen to your story.

During therapy, we work to identify both healthy and unhealthy behavioral, emotional, and relational patterns that deepen your understanding of yourself.
Are you ready to change? Whether change involves improving your mood, developing more intimate connections, or healing from complex trauma, you deserve a space that prioritizes you and focuses on creating a life well lived. In working with a diverse clientele, I often hear clients say that they are overwhelmed, disconnected, depleted, and this hour is their only time to relax, reflect, and re-energize. Therefore, treatment is tailored to the unique needs of the client with a flexible, nonjudgmental, and compassionate approach.

Psychotherapy is a practice of deep listening and a process that provides the opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Therapy can help you feel connected, grounded and deeply understood; it facilitates the opportunity to work through current and older challenges, which are impacting you (and possibly your loved ones) in the present. My style is holistic, eclectic and relational. I provide a safe environment, listen deeply and engage genuinely with the individuals, couples and families I meet. I believe that we each possess the innate ability to transform our lives so we can flourish, create, connect, accept and thrive.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Often, it can be hard to pinpoint exactly what is wrong or how to improve it. You may have feelings of isolation, sadness, or anxiety that come up when you least expect it. You feel like you need a break, but demands call for you to work harder, do better, and be stronger. Friends and family may offer advice, but deep down you think they just don’t understand.

We’re pleased you’ve made your first step towards healing. We understand that seeking help, whether for yourself or for your children isn’t always easy. Unfortunately, life doesn’t come with a user’s manual, and when times get tough, many of us are left feeling confused, angry, depressed and helpless. While we can’t provide you with a magical user’s manual to life, we can offer you an ancient symbol of peace, an olive branch. We want to help you extend that olive branch to not only the important relationships in your life but to yourself as well. Because at the end of the day, we all deserve inner peace.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
