Distress provides us an opportunity to examine the purposefulness of our cognitive, emotional, and relational patterns in a meaningful way. If we better understand what shaped us, where we are in the present, and what we want to integrate in the future, we can take fruitful action to instill change in our lives. Different approaches to our distress are at times necessary in order to reconcile new stages of development and new parts of our selves.

And as a relational therapist, I believe relationships are foundational to our lives (family, friends, coworkers, ourselves) - often the cause of life’s struggles, relationships also are paths to creating greater happiness.
I am inspired and humbled by the stories of people's lives - and I'm here to help when life gets challenging. If you're in the midst of a life transition or are feeling directionless - we can explore purpose. If life seems too hectic or feels increasingly hopeless - we'll work together to identify the underlying issue and explore solutions. If it feels like you and your teenager are stuck or if the relationship between your spouse/partner is a source of stress - we can work on communication. When you’re feeling overwhelmed and aren't sure how things can change, I can help.

I have the honor of working with people experiencing a wide variety of concerns including: depression; anxiety; grief/loss; life transitions; chronic illness; postpartum depression; sexual abuse; relationship problems; low self-esteem; family of origin; stress and more. My relational approach is based on the belief that within the framework of a trusting relationship with a therapist, clients can explore patterns of behavior and emotions which may relate back to earlier relationships. Once a better understanding of the origins of these patterns is developed, people often find lasting freedom from their hold over their lives.

I am a relational therapist and take an experiential approach incorporating mind-body techniques, art therapy and humor.
Feeling lost or stuck, and not sure what to do next? Let's talk and see what you need to move forward even if that means digging into the past. We can focus on building self-esteem, increasing confidence and building a greater self-identity. Our work could focus on managing perfectionism, improving communication skills and lowering anxiety and depression. As a relational therapist, I support individuals/couples/families to improve relational dynamics in order to strengthen the self and one's network. As a trauma informed therapist, I integrate talk as well as expressive arts including mind-body approaches to support overall health.

My approach is relational, process-oriented, compassionate, and of course, confidential.
I offer psychotherapy for college students and adults who would like to develop deeper insight into their own lives, who might be asking themselves, "Why am I doing what I'm doing?" or perhaps, "Why has my life come to this point?" Often these questions come with feelings of grief, pressure, disconnection, overwhelm, or exhaustion. And while I don't treat addiction, many of my clients grew up with family members who have battled addiction, and as a result struggle with codependency, questions about identity, difficulty making decisions, or feeling like they're always waiting for the next catastrophe to occur.

Psychotherapy is something that happens between people...you and me. It is a process that I expertly and sensitively guide, but it is something that we experience together. Relationships, past and present, may be a source of pain, frustration, or fear...but they are also the key to unlocking your full potential. Together, we will work to alleviate your most pressing problems as well as to develop a fuller understanding of the deeper, underlying issues that keep you stuck in emotional and relational patterns that limit your capacity to more fully give and receive love.

How can I help? I provide a welcoming, safe, and empathic space for you to work on individual and relational problems.
Do you ask yourself, “what is wrong with me?” or tell yourself that you shouldn’t feel so upset about your current situation or relationship? Or tell yourself that you shouldn’t be so reactive? Do you tell yourself that you are too judgmental and sensitive? We are certainly living with a challenging health pandemic, which can make our social, emotional, and relational challenges even worse. Knowing ourselves is an important part of addressing the challenges we face. Our stories matter and having a space to explore these stories helps us navigate challenges and embrace social, emotional and relational well-being.

Even in strong relationships, communication is complicated - "How did we get here - again?" Often, having an educated observer - a calm presence in the room - creates a safe space for sorting out issues and listening. During therapy, we may discover your relationship's unique boundaries, expectations, and communication styles. I draw from a broad social perspective and an understanding grounded in attachment and relational psychodynamic theories. If you are looking for couples therapy or individual therapy you will hopefully find our work together life changing. www.comfortbelbastherapy.com

I incorporate the latest in neuroscience research and pull from relational psychotherapy, mindfulness, psychodynamic, interpersonal neurobiology and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Life is difficult. Feeling better is possible. We all have the right and the ability to feel some peace and acceptance about our lives; the things we can control and the things we can not. We may often believe the negative thoughts we have (that we often make up) and act accordingly. You can change your life, your outlook and the way you think and feel about yourself and your relationships. I believe changes and growth occur when an individual is able to challenge their thoughts, examine their perspectives and learn how to be true to themselves.

I conduct psychotherapy from a systems and relational standpoint, as I believe relationships hold the key to unlocking our personal problems. I strive to create a secure environment with which to explore each person's situation and to create a collaborating relationship with the patient. Together we work to understand how they got to where they are and how they may proceed differently. We examine their history, see how they cope with conflict and communicate their needs to others. We look to how they can come to feel more in charge of their life, feel more productive and happier.

I am relational in nature and believe strongly in attachment theory, meaning I value the interconnectedness between our relationships and mental health, and I believe our early childhood experiences shape how we relate to, attach, and connect with others today.
Are you a millennial who is wanting to feel happier, less stressed and more fulfilled within your relationships and daily life? Perhaps you are stuck in feelings of insecurity, ruminating thoughts, or patterns of behavior that get in the way of your daily functioning and keep you from forming healthy, secure connections with others. If this sounds like you, I would love to help. I am most passionate about working with those who are experiencing relationships difficulties (with a partner, friend, co-worker, family member, etc) and who want to deepen their self-understanding so that they can become the best version of themselves.

Welcome. The desire to feel seen, heard, and understood is a universal and essential part of human wellness. In my work as a psychotherapist I try to help people understand, both emotionally and intellectually, the deeper roots of their difficulties and reignite their own natural gifts for growth, and resilience. I understand that coming to therapy can be difficult, and I strive to provide a warm, compassionate, and empathetic space for our work together. I am relational in my approach; this means I believe that how well I listen and connect with you matters.

I work from a relational and psychodynamic perspective.
A good fit between a client and a therapist, followed by ongoing relationship building, is essential to facilitating the desired shifts in how a person feels about themself and their circumstances. A strong working relationship happens by way of meeting regularly and establishing trust. Within each exchange the client should feel free from judgment and comfortable to share at their own pace.

Relational Therapists
If you're looking for Relational Therapy in Minneapolis or for a Minneapolis Relational therapist these professionals provide relational therapy and relational psychotherapy. They include Relational therapists, Relational psychologists, Relational psychotherapists and Relational counselors.

Relational life therapy in Minneapolis offers strategies to combat marital dysfunction and restore harmony in relationships. Couples--those recovering from affairs, traumatic events, or a lull in passion--can find RLT helpful. To repair discord, the therapist identifies the main conflict upsetting the couples' emotional intimacy. Once the partners see how they both contribute to the problem, the therapist teaches them skills to improve the ways they relate to each other. Couples may see a change in their relationship within three to six months.
