Are you struggling to help your child with life's challenges? All of us have experienced one, if not all of these life transitions. These different life changes may be normal, necessary transitions, but at times can be very overwhelming and challenging to manage. I am a licensed therapist in California and Colorado, specializing in postpartum mental health, life transitions, relational conflicts, and parenting. I am also bilingual in English and Vietnamese.

The first question a client may ask is "Can you help me?" Current problems may produce anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, grief, or shame that may be difficult to resolve alone. Therapeutic services are offered in a concerned and collaborative environment with a strong focus on continuity of care for a variety of symptoms. "Help" comes in the form of therapy focused on a client's individual needs, strengths, and motivation. The goal of treatment is to provide relief, resolution, and restoration to a state of peace and prosperity

I use relational and attachment based models to assist, guide, and empower clients to cultivate better relationships, as well as creating changes in your old patterns.
Do you struggle in your relationships? Do you have a hard time seeing your own patterns that lead to negative or destructive behavior? Have you tried all your coping mechanisms, and yet, you still feel anxious and/or depressed?

Welcome to my practice. I have been in practice since 2007 and have been featured on ABC, NBC, and KCAL as an expert psychologist. I work primarily with men who have hit “rock bottom” and would like help getting up. These men are often in crisis when we first meet. The issues I address are typically related to unhealthy sexual behaviors, infidelity, financial recklessness, gambling, drugs/alcohol, dishonesty/lying, and relational conflicts. My therapy approach is a combination of psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, and the 12-Step recovery model. I also share insight from my own painful but redemptive recovery journey.

It is exciting, you are taking steps to find support. My expertise comes from over 20 years working with individuals, couples and families experiencing the effects of attachment trauma. The hallmark of trauma is the loss of basic trust. Our mind-body connection is powerful. In the short-term, it finds the quickest route to safety. Yet, overtime the protection it affords can become a pattern that adversely affects our well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals in the process of restoring their capacity to trust and dissolve the fear that leads to harmful advance or retreat, and causes relational anxiety and depression.

I am relational focused, which to me means finding a plan that works best for you, practicing cultural humility and not trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.
Hi there, I primarily work in substance use recovery (abstinence and harm reduction) and trauma recovery. I also have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, and sleep issues/insomnia. My treatment orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy concepts, however the foundation of my early training was Psychodynamic.

My approach to therapy consists of psychodynamic, existential, relational and object relations.
Experience the freedom to express yourself and the safety to explore issues you may have been hesitant to get into before. Learning more about where you are, how you view yourself, where you wish to be, and what obstacles you may be facing would guide us in setting goals for your therapy. I typically work with those who are curious about themselves and life, wanting to experience "being" or "how to be," or wanting to find ways to experience less emotional pain and make life more enjoyable for themselves and those around them.

She believes that while many of us experience pain as a result of relational wounds, it is only within the context of relationship that true healing can be felt.
Stephanie is passionate about journeying alongside adults and adolescents as they experience the difficulties of life transitions and discover who they truly are. People often find themselves in painful relational patterns and spaces of internal suffering that hinder them from living the fulfilled life they desire. Stephanie believes that deeply exploring oneself from a holistic and creative posture is what allows people to authentically live in the freedom of who they truly are.

My specialized experience is relational conflicts, and eating disorder/body image recovery.
Are you tired of feeling the same terrible way over and over? Whether in your thoughts about yourself, your professional life, or in your most important family or romantic relationships, repetitive problems really wear us down. The difficult feelings these issues bring cast a shadow over our lives and our well-being, leaving us hopeless. But there IS hope, and I'd love to help. I offer a judgement free space for us to look together at where you are feeling stuck, and then caring, pragmatic, and thoughtful relief. Whether you know exactly what's causing your pain or you have no idea where to start, I welcome your call.

Engaging with persons experiencing anxiety, depressive spectrum symptoms, substance and trauma problems, marital/relational issues, as well as severe personality and severe mental illness disorders, have enabled me to be more personal and unique in my approach.
Seeking help in times of inner battles takes great courage. I respect and admire those who come to me for support, as you are the bravest types of people. I am driven to ensure that my clients feel a sense of belonging and understanding, allowing them to unload the weight they carry. Judgment and indifference have no place in my space. There is only healing, reparation, and reconciliation.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
