As a therapist, I utilize models such as CBT, DBT, MBCT, ACT with individuals as well as EFT and Gottman method with couples.
Do you and your partner get into the same fight over and over without it ever being resolved? Have you tried talking about it and feel like your partner doesn't listen? Do you feel like you’ve tried everything but nothing seems to be working? If so, you’ve come to the right place. I work with couples and individual adults dealing with a myriad of issues. My goal is to help you gain insight to your issues and figure out where you're stuck. From there, we will create a ‘toolbox’ of strategies to use so you can experience more satisfaction in your life and relationships.

Using Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Superhero therapy, and DBT skills, I offer *low-risk* clients a compassionate space to identify their strengths, explore solutions to their problems, learn and practice new coping skills, and set and achieve goals.
Even though our culture has developed the attitude that "happiness" should be our default state, life is often hard. We all face difficult transitions, experience scary situations, and often feel at the mercy of forces beyond our control. We easily can have trouble dealing with change as well as emotions like shame, guilt, anxiety, fear, anger, and grief. Faith crises and transitions are especially difficult because religion give us our identity and sense of what it means to be human, our community, our relationship to power and authority, how we can and cannot use our bodies—the very nature of reality.

We will take action and outsmart anxiety and OCD together, using Exposure & Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.
Feeling worried much of the time, having panic attacks, and feeling so overwhelmed by your thoughts can be exhausting. My clients often find themselves in this loop of having debilitating thoughts, needing to get rid of them, keeping track of what triggers anxiety so they can avoid it, and yet the worry seems to grow even stronger. And eventually, they are beyond frustrated that these worries seem to be taking over their life. Some thoughts can be about contamination or health, fear of harming others, anxiety related to social situations or morality. Whatever it is, the fears interfere with what's most important to them.

A journey that looks inward and embodies, what I believe to be, fundamental aspects of life, which are Transformation, Adaptation and Acceptance. To reach this method of consciousness, it can’t be counterfeited, I live it. I came to discover that what I enjoy most is inspiring others and aiding them in finding their own way by unlocking their potential and discovering all the possibilities that lead to their specific and individual transformation.

I approach therapy from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) perspective.
Do you ever feel that you are not currently the best version of yourself? Do you ever feel that you are not where you want to be in life, but not sure where you would prefer to be or how to get there? You're not alone in that experience. Genuine peace and happiness are within reach for anyone who is willing to reach for it. We are all products of our environments and culminations of our life experiences, but those environments and experiences do not have to define nor dictate who we are. My goal as your therapist is to help you become the version of yourself you have always dreamed of being.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
