I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 7 yrs of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have worked in children's residential treatment, addiction, in-patient acute mental health, and adult and juvenile correctional settings. I believe that each client has their own unique story. I enjoy helping indivuals to process through their issues and make positive steps forward in achieving their therapeutic goals. Together we will work to find a therapy approach that works best for you.

I have been in private practice in the Grapevine area for over 30 years. I treat adults, adolescents and couples in both individual and group therapy. I address issues such as anxiety, depression, parent/teen relationships, family relations, alcohol and drug abuse recovery and marital counseling.

I have more than 20 years of experience working in various settings, including working with adults, children, adolescents, persons with disabilities and hospice patients. There is not a specific type of therapeutic style or approach that works for everyone: age, ethnicity, all of this may play a part into stressors and how we cope with them. Therefore, the services are built around the individuals or family needs, focusing on strengths and values. I believe there is nothing we can’t overcome and the first step is seeking the help. My goal as a therapist is to find solutions that work for you on an individual basis, helping you to discover the true potential of your life. All from the comfort of your couch. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer and we can connect. My career started as a classroom teacher and school counselor. I currently have over 20 years of experience working with students and families. In addition to my school counseling career, I am a crisis clinician in a major hospital in the DFW and work in over 32 emergency rooms providing on-call patient care.

My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is to help others live with themselves and relate with others as we are intended to-with health and function, not with illness and dysfunction. To do this, I utilize approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) integrated with biblical truth to help explore thoughts, feelings, and choices in a compassionate and empathetic way. I believe that while we are responsible for these, we also need grace and patience as we face the challenges to change.

I have been married for 16 years and have three adult stepchildren, a son-in-law and 3 grandchildren. I also have 2 cats that are important members of the family. The spirit of and definition family is something that has grown and has become valued over the years. My life experiences have given me insight and perspectives that allow me to make unique connections with my clients. I learned that life is ever changing. I have come to realize is that during times when we feel defeated, it does not mean we are unable to change the outcome or our quality of life in the future. Nor, is it too late to create the life we do want.

Making the decision to come to counseling can be a difficult one. I understand people face different challenges that stop them from moving forward in their lives. I am passionate about helping people with various issues including depression, anxiety, unresolved grief/loss, low self-esteem, substance use disorders, and complex trauma among many others. I believe in a patient approach and emphasize building a trusting relationship to help foster deeper reflection and personal accountability. My practice focuses on treating children and teens with depression, anxiety, attachment issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactivity, and behavioral disorders. Play therapy is my primary tool to help children cope with issues as they grow and develop. Although the child is my client, I work to provide education and support to parents, as the child's primary support system.
