Licensed Psychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology. 30 years experience. Certified Stress Management Specialist, Eating Disorders Specialist, and Disaster Traumatologist. My approach is cognitive-behavioraI, and I believe therapy should be an enjoyable interactive learning experience where concrete skill sets are learned and goals set and achieved. In addition, I try to make it a fun process, where we use humor and a positive approach to life problems. I enjoy working with women experiencing depression, stress, anxiety, medical disorders, eating disorders and obesity.
A PhD in Health Psychology trained me to work with clinical issues such as depression and anxiety, but also provided specialized training to deal with disease and illness issues. My training and experience in eating disorders, autoimmune disorders, stress management and women's issues have provided me an advanced level of expertise in these areas.
I focus my practice on women's well-being. I enjoy serving my community. I've mentored teens, as well as developed a program with the Police Department in which we trained women in safety & self-defense. I won the Citizen of the Year Award for Community Service. I'm also a disaster psychologist and worked for FEMA.
