My approach to therapy is to respect each individual as a whole person. I believe each person knows himself or herself best. Loss of jobs, relationships, chemical addiction, life transitions, trauma, abuse and the stress of day to day living come with an array of thoughts and emotions, which at some points in our lives can become overwhelming. We start to feel like nothing can get better, and begin to self-destruct or stay stuck, out of fear of the unknown or poor habits. I use an eclectic approach, pulling together different types of therapies tailored to what would be most beneficial to the particular client.

Life can be difficult, challenging and stressful and we sometimes can get stuck. Therapy can help us get unstuck. Whatever your goals may be , my hope is as a therapist I can help you reach those . Overcoming the challenges and obstacles through the process of finding your own path and answers is ultimately the goal of therapy . I provide a non judgmental place for my clients to find those answers. That to me is one of the ultimate goals of therapy is to find one’s own true self, whoever that might be . Note- Initial Session in Person. Inquires answered by administration staff of agency.

Have you ever been told when life gives you lemons make lemonade? Well, like most people unless you have a plan or a “recipe” then it is difficult to know where to start. I want to help you with tools and techniques to create your own “recipe” for the current journey you are on. First and foremost, I want to commend you for taking the first steps toward seeking treatment with finding a therapist. It took a lot of courage and inner strength to know your emotional health is the key ingredient to your “recipe” for balance in life.

Special interest in helping people work through difficulties they are facing in order to get to a better place in life. Everyone faces various types of struggles throughout life and it is nice to find someone who can help you navigate through those times. It's very important to me to develop strong, trusting relationships with my clients. This creates a safe environment for issues to be discussed and goals to be set. A solid working relationship helps people feel comfortable in discussing difficult things and situations they are going through which helps to get to the root of a problem & find a true solution.

My ambition is to provide counsel/therapy and guidance to individuals, couples, and/or families who are dealing with issues that affect them mentally, emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually. I like to help clients determine why they are experiencing their life challenges and develop goals and actions to resolve the issues they are facing. I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I also work with clients who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment struggles, and grief. The techniques I most often use are rooted in CBT, The Gottman Method, and Family Systems.

Reality Therapy

Is reality therapy evidence-based?

Reality therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapies. However, some research does indicate that reality therapy might be helpful for people with addiction, and may be effective in treating social anxiety in young people.

How long does reality therapy last?

Reality therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Reality therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of reality therapy long after treatment has ended.

Does reality therapy work?

Reality therapy can help a person manage concerns such as eating disorders, addiction, substance use, anxiety, phobias, and relationship difficulties. This type of therapy encourages a person to be accountable for their behaviors. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure. Reality therapy can be useful in one-on-one therapy or in group sessions. This method may be used with children, families, and adults.

What are the limitations of reality therapy?

This therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the therapist focuses on choices made by the individual in the present day. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over others. This format may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every client.
