Raymond P Batista, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Brooklyn
I'm passionate about working with young adults in their 20s and 30s adjusting to life after college, including people who are struggling or experiencing feelings of disconnection or transition in their careers or relationships. One of the reasons people come to therapy is because they're lacking freedom in some way or another in their life, and I feel the goal of therapy is to engage in a conversation that will, over time, help you transform self awareness into greater freedom and empowerment in your life.
I use a humanistic lens that holistically looks at the human hierarchy of needs and acknowledges that under the right conditions, people will move in the direction of thriving, or self-actualizing. My role will treat you as the expert of your own experience and values.
I have experience working with the LGBT community, substance use, young adults, and people feeling "stuck" in their professional life. When not counseling, I spend time teaching as an adjunct faculty member at Hunter College-this motivates me to stay updated on the treatments that will support my clients.
