For 29 years, I've focused on helping individuals, couples, and families navigate the complexities of relationships, trauma, and emotional healing. My treatment approach is grounded firmly in the Internal Family Systems Psychotherapy Model, a modern, transformative model that recognizes the human mind as a system of discrete parts that carry us through life and inform primary attachment relationships, and critically, our relationship to ourselves. As a Level 3 Certified IFS therapist and an IFS-I Approved Clinical Consultant, I provide direct care to individuals, couples, families, and consultation toward IFS certification.
With IFS, we promote a deliberate, reciprocal conversation between the client and the client’s parts with the express goal of achieving deep understanding of the part’s experience. This process helps repair the attachment between the part and the client’s self. Once we have repaired this attachment we move into the healing part of the protocol.
In IFS couples therapy we use two IFS skills together. First, we pause to listen for our parts, then we speak for parts. This slows our internal process, and preserves our attachment to the part. This helps parts stay calm, clear, compassionate, and connected to their experience, and we stay calm and connected to our partner and their experience.
