Deciding to come to counseling is a difficult one. My passion is to “walk along side” the person who ready to be challenged and work through being "stuck" from distressing experiences. My specialty is working with people who have traumatic pasts causing intrusive thinking/rumination; nightmares and flashbacks; and avoidance from others and situations. I am passionate about working with individuals and families to overcome underlying relational problems and to feel safe expressing their wishes and desires. I counsel with people who are dependent on drugs and alcohol working through what he or she is escaping from.

Client's best suited to my specialties and approach are those that are honest, open-minded and willing to do the work needed to bring about healing and change. I am comfortable working with clients of any religion, spirituality, ethnicity, nationality, culture, accent, gender, gender identification, sexual orientation, ability, disability, education level or lack thereof, political preference, style of speech and any kind of background, as long as they are over the age of 18. I have the most training and experience with victims of any kind of abuse and/or trauma, as well as those with substance abuse issues.

Our Practice: We’ve been hearing for years from clients about how their previous therapist was a good listener, but they didn’t feel like they made much progress. While active listening is an important skill for a therapist, listening can only go so far. We believe what sets us apart from many other therapists is the fact we actually help you help yourself make the necessary changes in your life by giving you techniques, tools, skills, and guidance to achieve your goals. Additionally, we provide psychological evaluations for children and adults looking for diagnostic clarity to guide treatment recommendations.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a dark place where we feel alone, helpless, and hopeless about ourselves and our future. In times like these it is easy to think that you are worthless and no one can understand what you are going through or fathom the heaviness inside of you. As a counselor, I take great pride in being able to sit down in your hole with you and slowly work our way back out together. Harville Hendrix of "Getting the Love You Want" was my supervisor for 8 years. Hence, I truly enjoy a wide range of issues and personalities. I'm compassionate but direct in my style and often described as "Dr. Phil, with a heart".
