I am a Pueblo, Colorado native and have been licensed for 22 years. I am a mother, sister, friend, and, most importantly, a fellow human that relates to the issues that life brings. I find fulfillment in helping and assisting people recognize and become the best version of themselves using a variety of modalities to meet people where they are.

As a trauma survivor, and someone who lives with a chronic illness, Roxanne learned firsthand how to navigate a rather complex, diverse, and stigmatizing healthcare system. Roxanne understands the importance of empowerment and advocacy in helping others navigate systematic barriers. She understands the critical component of finding the right therapist. In many ways, the system fails to understand that mental health operates on a spectrum, especially when it comes to: trauma, treatment resistant depression, grief, substance use, eating disorders, neurodivergence, and LGBTQ+ community needs.

Starting an inner journey on a path to self-healing and understanding can seem like a daunting task. It can be confusing, often goes against logic, and opens us up to the very things that caused us to retreat from a full life in the first place. I understand the trepidation that comes from starting on such a journey and the various obstacles that arise during this exploration. This journey does not have to be taken alone.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 40 years. I started working in mental health facilities in my early 20's while I was in college. I have worked with adults and adolescents in all kinds of modalities, yet I seemed to focus more toward young people and their families with substance abuse problems and anxiety. Some of that stems from having to deal with my own addictions in my late teens and finally getting clean and sober at age 20. Thus, I understand what it is like to be overwhelmed by addiction and the need to engage in a recovery process.

You will find that I work hard to understand you and to help you better understand yourself and your relationships. I believe that every person has an inner potential for healthy growth and development, and my role as a counselor is to facilitate that growth. I have counseled clients with addictions and trauma successfully for over 30 years. I also specialize in teaching clients’ new ways to cope with symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, and more. I feel strongly that we have within ourselves the ability to heal and that with some guidance and tools, we can find creative solutions to our own problems and use these problems as motivation to improve. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I think it's very important to meet the client where they currently are in their journey and work from that point.

I enjoy working with clients who are looking for help making deeper connections with important people in their lives. I work with clients who struggle with anxiety, self-esteem, conflict, and attachment injuries that get in the way of connecting with others. If you have struggled with friendships, romantic relationships, or coworkers in the past and just want to learn how to connect with people on a deeper level, I can help. As a former high school math teacher, I have lots of experience, and work well, with teens, specifically those struggling with issues related to anxiety, self-esteem, or identity concerns.

Then you spend the rest of the appointment trying to convince them that you are actually ill.
