You don't have to be "crazy" to seek counseling. Some people are just stuck and need some help getting back on track. Others are at a point in life they're not sure what to do next, so they come to figure that out. Some people have relationship problems in the family or at work, and want help to work through it. Some have emotional problems, or are haunted by past events and want to break free of them. Still others are wanting to grow and develop a clearer sense of purpose, or gain a stronger sense of spirituality.
I have 20 years of experience working with individual adults, teenagers, families, and marital counseling. I treat a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, anger, addictions, abuse issues, grief, marital problems, and adoption. I also do a great deal of Christian counseling for those who are interested.
The first session is used to put people at ease, because it's hard to talk about personal issues with a stranger. I then help clarify issues, what they want different, and develop a plan to reach their goals, while working through obstacles that get in their way.
