I practice an Integrative form of long term supportive therapy whose foundation is Archetypal Psychology against the background of Ancient, Medieval and Modern Philosophy, especially Hans Georg Gadamer and Henry Corbin. The goal is to ‘get better’ — better in the sense of relief from suffering and symptoms and better in the sense of living a life aligned with one’s highest hopes and ideals. A therapist’s role is to foster and facilitate a collaborative process through support, empathy, understanding, encouragement and the exercise of practical wisdom (phronesis). In my 20s I was a student and assistant to James Hillman, founder of
Archetypal Psychology, and became the Executive Editor of Spring: an Annual of Archetypal Psychology and Jungian Thought and Spring Publications, an International Publishing House publishing classic books in Archetypal Psychology by Patricia Berry and Rafael Lopez Pedraza; also Henry Corbin, Karl Kerenyi, C.G. Jung. Marie Louise von Franz and James Hillman.
I've published widely — 5 books, booklets, articles, stories, Op-Eds, etc., received National Awards — the Congressional Angel of Adoption and the Baran Pannor Award for Excellence in Adoption, been a regular invited speaker at the annual Hillman Symposia at the Dallas Institute of Culture and Humanities, and keynoted conferences all over the country.
