Dr. Thomas is a licensed psychologist and graduate of the Gordon Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University, the first graduate program in clinical psychology with an educational model devoted to the practicing clinician/psychotherapist. With pre- and post-doctoral experience and training in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy, he has practiced for over 30 years, working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual psychotherapy, as well as providing neuropsychological evaluations to identify the learning needs of children and young adults.
Dr. Thomas has held supervisory and teaching positions at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Astor Home for Children, Lenox Hill Hospital, and Yeshiva University. In the context of the current pandemic, he is offering an innovative therapeutic approach which combines his knowledge of play therapy with his expertise in child-guidance for parents.
With training in clinical psychology as well as neuropsychology, Dr. Thomas brings a wide array of skills and perspectives to his work with both children and adults. Very few psychologists have this diversity of perspective that can inform their diagnostic acumen, and their intervention strategies.
