The clients I serve are adolescents and adults who need individual, couples, family or group counseling to help them cope with daily struggles, overcome personal obstacles and/or those who suffer with mental illness. I also offer counsel and coaching for those who are not experiencing a mental health issue but would like some guidance on life decisions. The theoretical frameworks I use are Person-Centered, Reality Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Counseling. I tailor my approach based on the need of the client.
First and foremost, I strive to create an environment where the client feels safe and comfortable to share what is on their mind and/or heart. I use a series of open-ended questions, reflection of thought, and attentive behaviors to gain a better understanding of the situation the client finds themselves in.
I also provide counsel and teach skills that are useful in dealing with difficult situations and/or relationships in a non-therapeutic way for those who do not require therapy. I make a conscious effort to bring some type of resolution to all problems that my clients present me with.
