After the tragic suicide of her 19 year old son-Jamal Clay in 2020, Rafiah felt compelled to continue his legacy and share his story for others impacted by suicide and trauma . Her advocacy and education has lead her to be trained in Trauma Focused therapy, Grief therapy, EMDR and CBT.
Rafiah was featured in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Southtown, Chicago Crusader, NPR- Science Friday edition (produced by the Kaiser Health Foundation), WVON 1690am, the Black News Channel and will be a presenter at the 2022 American Association of Suicidology Conference Chicago Illinois.
