My goal is providing competent, insight-focused therapy with an emphasis on self-compassion and improving the relationship with the self. My approach is helpful for people trying to navigate burnout, perfectionism, low self-esteem, and self-criticism. Growing up as a biracial Latino, I struggled with navigating questions about racial identity, internalized racism, fitting in with different groups, and managing different sets of cultural expectations. I’m passionate about working with clients who experience similar challenges with any of their identities.

I have over 25 years of experience working with clients who are seeking something better for themselves. I prefer to use strengths to address the concerns that clients would like to work on together. I also believe that the way people think about situations impacts their behavior and rethinking those situations can lead to positive changes.

As both a psychologist and an acupuncturist, I offer an array of possibilities for people grappling with concerns of mind, body, and spirit: psychotherapy, acupuncture, intuitive and energy medicine, qigong and somatic therapies, meditation and other contemplative and imaginal practices. Difficulties can make us think that something is wrong with us, when really all we need is compassion and understanding- ideally from ourselves. I enjoy working with self-growth, depression, anxiety, trauma, birth-related trauma, sexual assault, accidents, ancestral trauma, and racialized trauma. While living in Alaska, I realized there is a need for mental health professionals who understand the implications of being an immigrant, and the importance of processing the loss of your language, food, music, friends, and place.
