Having sexual trauma can turn your world upside down. It can be very hard to build relationships, and trusting others becomes that much harder. If there is sexual trauma as a child then the trust and innocence are lost early. If it is as an adult then the meaning and idea of what you knew trust to be are now shifted. Being in a relationship with sexual trauma history can be a rollercoaster ride filled with unknown twists and turns. I know that the needs and changes may be different for those individuals and their partners. My goal is to work together with my clients to relieve the pressure of the reprogrammed trauma brain.

I have had the opportunity to work in several different mental health settings including hospitals and private practice which has give me a helpful scope of experience. My practice specializes in treating children, adolescents and adults across the life span, with a special interest in helping 18- to 30-year-olds navigate young adulthood. My style derives from psychodynamic, family systems, relational and cognitive schools of psychotherapy. As an individual and family therapist, I offer a warm, compassionate, accepting environment where clients can safely explore personal issues and family members can learn new ways of understanding each other and being together. As a Marriage and Family Therapist I work with couples, families, and individuals seeking ways of better communicating as a way of improving relationships. The most courageous and compassionate act one can perform is the request for help. I am a psychotherapist with a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago, where I studied clinical social work. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on a wide range of clinical issues including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, addiction, and trauma.
